Just ORDed recently and haven't touched maths or physics in like 2 years. My NS life wasn't that good for me to even consider studying/revising while serving -.-.

My question is, How should i prepare myself for before enrolling in NUS Mechanical Engineering?

Should I like start revising all 'A' Levels H2 math and physics or is there online materials specific to mechanical engineering that can help me focus my scope and not waste time?

The reason for me posting this is that ive heard from people that engineering is no joke and i dont wanna mess up. Although 1st semester is not exactly 'counted' but still am nervous.

So, are there any seniors in mech engineering or engineering as a whole who can help me on this?

In short, how can i prepare for NUS mech engineering as ive just ORD and had not studied anything for 2 years.

Thanks in advance people.:s12:

don't worry, you will re-learn all necessary stuff again in uni, but be prepared work harder than you expect

So are you saying that if i study now ill have an easier time OR that even if i study now, ill still need to work hard anyways.

By relearn, do they teach you the basic stuffs again? Like the properties of log functions etc.. Binomial Theorem etc...

I will be impress if they do!
these are basic stuff like your multiplication table. At Sec 1 school didn't reteach all U learn back in Pri school.

working hard is a must. if U have forgotten your basic naturally U have to work harder just to catch up.if u just want to grad with a merit can relax more than those who aim to get a 1:1. whats your goal?

Rather than learning all those academic stuff, maybe you can try learning cad software such as Autocad or Solidworks.

Academic stuff will be taught during normal classes, there is no need for you to study them in advance.

However, for mech engineering, many projects requires the usage of CAD software. And software usage is pretty much self-taught. So it advisable for you to self-taught yourself in advance when you have the time :)

What he said ^

Don't bother looking at all these simple stuff, you won't use it.
Considering that you're from JC, I don't think you're exposed to stuff like Thermofluids, Statics etc.
So i suggest you enjoy your free time while it lasts lol

Anything that you don't know when you start school, just use google and youtube.

I'm not from nus nor mechAnical engrng.
I entered ntu elect Eng after 2 years being storeman

Generally revise things like basic Maths manipulation, u from jc should be very familiar.

Reivse those small tricks like manipulating complicated fractions, be very familiar with differentiation n integration, partial derivatives, trigo identities, etc

I think physics is very important ad well. Maybe u will learn some thermodynamics n thermofluids, Bernoulli eqn, flowrate, pressure, kinematics? Can go n see ur course n module info

Jc students shouldn't have much problem in Maths n physics in My opinion.
