Need some help in building a gaming PC. Want to run games such as CSGO, hearthstone and sc2 very smoothly. For reference, i want my fps on CS to be able to reach 200-300? I may play some other more taxing games as well (Battlefield, skyrim etc.) but i don't need to run them on the highest settings. Just looking for it to be smooth. My budget is probably not more than 1k.

thanks guys

Need any of these?

Windows
Monitor
Speaker
Keyboard
Mouse
WiFi adapter

PC to be placed on table or floor?
Which internet provider plan and router are you using now?
Is your home in a relatively new apartment built in the past 8 years?
How far is your upcoming PC located from the router?
Any obstruction between path?

I need windows and i'll be connecting by a CAT6 ethernet cable. PC can be placed on floor or the table (doesn't matter to me, i have space for both). Currently have Singtel Fiber 1GB. My apartment is relatively new since i have fiber. My router will be ~1.5-2metres away from my upcoming PC (I have a ~5m CAT6 cable so no problem). No peripherals needed, I have everything that I need. (KB, Mouse, Monitors etc.)

Thanks for the reply

Perhaps he should skip the SSD for now and invest in a better GPU? SSD can always be added in later but GPU upgrade will mean replacing the card.

@OP: If you're not too particular about it, you can get some pretty good deals with second hand parts that are still under warranty.

TS doesn't really require higher end GPU for now and even if we drop he can only get a R9-380 which is not a big improvement over GTX 950. Plus GTX 950 is still be to handle BF and Skyrim well on mid setting.

And if you were to add SSD later, TS may need to reinstall the entire OS and games on the SSD. A GPU upgrade later should it be necessary for him, will be much simpler.

oh yea. forgot to add in that I have a 144hz monitor. Will i be able to utilize this refresh rate with that GPU. I've heard that certain GPUs aren't preferable/suitable with 144hz monitors (Max refresh rate only able to reach 60hz)

Yes this is perfect for that, with HDMI 2.0, DL DVI and DP1.2. GTX 950 and GTX 960 are the only 2 cards to support HDMI 2.0 out of the box right now....

If want minimum 200 better get CPU skylake,
For GPU after a certain point does not increase your fps anymore in cs:go, GTX 950 is a sweetspot.

This is my benchmark for CS:GO, PC specs on the right, -high -threads 4
