1) Are you going to use sound editing software like TS?

2) Are you overclocking?

3) Are you going to play the same games as TS?

4) Overheating problems are usually caused by insufficient cooling on the CPU and GPU. Getting a motherboard that claims superior cooling properties is NOT going to solve your cooling problems. A casing that is more conductive to cooling and extra casing fans will help to make your rig cooler.

5) List down the parts of your 2 rigs, maybe what you just need is a rig upgrade, not a new rig.

1) not using sound editing software.

2) not overclocking

3) same games + WoW, youtube, twitch.tv

4) ok. Pls recommended me a good casing and fans and maybe even cpu coolers then.

5) cpu : intel core i7 cpu 860 @2.80GHZ
Graphics card : Ati Radeon 5800 Series
SSD: 40 GB
Monitor: using a tv as monitor now, when i alt tab between LoL/Wow to desktop the transition to and fro black screen takes super long. is that a monitor thing or a gpu thing ?

Sorry have no idea how to retrieve the rest of the info. If you could tell me how to get the info i would gladly do it. I dont have the receipts and boxes with me anymore though. Sorry i have no knowledge with assembling computers.

Download and use HW Info to see the rest of the specs. What casing are you using? State brand and model of PSU.

This is all i see from HW Info :

Intel Core i7-860
ASUS P7P55D-E EVO
ASUS EAH5870
DDR3-1600 / PC3-12800 DDR3 SDRAM UDIMM 2GB
Microsoft Windows 7 Enterprise (x64) Build 7601

Have no idea what is the model of the casing but its cooler master. Not sure what PSU i am using. Can just safely assume that i want to build a rig from scratch and i am not using anything from my current rig.

1) Your CM casing is mid tower or large tower? What colour is your casing? When did you buy your current rig? How many 5.25'' external slots are there on your case?

2)What HDD are you using?

3) I can see that there are some things in your rig that are still worth reusing.

1) Its a large tower. black color. Bought it in like 2009/2010.

2) current HDD is already spoilt. bad sectors. Surviving on just my 80 GB ssd

3) Dont intend to reuse. Will put the system together with tv in living room so family members can use it to watch streamed/downloaded videos. ( thats why can get some reimbursement for new rig )

Buy at PC Themes, #04-15, and ask for discounts. DIY yourself. If you can't into DIY, go to PC Care & Solution at #02-32 and ask Nigel to help you assemble for a fee.

Notes:

1) If only gaming, an i5 is good enough for gaming as most games generally do not make use of hyperthreading and you are going to only get gains of 1-3 FPS with an i7.

2) A Samsung 840 Evo is used instead of an 840 Pro as it is much cheaper and unless using video/photo/sound editing software, only the read performance of the SSD matters.

3) It would not be recommended to use WD Green as the Intellipark feature of the HDD tends to cause the HDD parts to spoil faster.

4) Use the rest of your $$$ to get yourself some Corsair AF120s for $28 each.

5) Casing is highly subjective and no two persons can have the same opinion about casings. You may want to take a walk around SLS and check out the casings.

6) If not overclocking, you do not need an Intel Z motherboard as motherboards nowadays generally have similar build quality accross chipsets and brands. You will also not need aftermarket cooling as generally, Intel stock cooling is good enough for general use as Intel CPU generally do not get very hot unlike AMD's FX CPUs.

7) Ever considered other brands of the GTX 970? Gigabyte's GTX 970 is the most expensive GTX 970 in the market.

8) DVD drives generally have similar performance and getting an Asus DVD is not going to read or burn your DVDs 3 times faster.
