Help!! Info engineering & media or CS or IS!!

I want to study in the field of computing but is not sure which course to choose for my uni. I have some coding experience, so I dont mind coding, but I do not want to go 100% hardcore coding for my future career. I have a senior in IEM and he told me its roughly 65% computing+eng, 25% art and 15% others, how true is that? What about IS? I heard CS require A LOT of hardcore coding, so I am not really leaning towards it.

Hmm, from the read, it seems that IEM students due to the nature of the course are weaker than the Computing students when it comes to IT and the art part is too little to make much difference, esp when compare to the art students. So they ended up specialiased in nothing, is my understanding of the course correct?

Why don't u want hardcore coding? But u don't mind coding?

Hii I am from iem, feel free to ask me anything abt the course! Yea is like every sem roughly 1 (art/media) mod and if u like tech stuff (general) probably should go cs, but if you like art/media and tech choose iem!
Tbh the brightsparks forums are rather outdated so yea.

Ah you can try downloading the syllabus from the eeeiem website
Roughly you will do 1/2 computing related mods per sem, in yr last yr u can choose to do more mods on computing if you like (tgt w the cs students)
If art/media is not yr forte, you will only do at most 5 mods throughout yr degree.
But I warn there are electronics/engineering mods too.
Career prospects are pretty broad, some become software engineers, others go to gaming firms, design firms, banks etc. You should probably look out for the coming graduate employment survey and ask at the open house too, regarding the newest batch of graduates.

I would say both yes and no regarding disadvantages as compared to cs, iem students are less well verse in computing as a whole but it is always gd to be exposed and have knowledge in other areas like design and writing, so I feel it is how you sell yourself. Also, if you work towards building a portfolio (be it programming projects) it will definitely help in finding jobs when u graduate.

But ultimately a cs degree is still more known than an iem one, and is something you want to think about too.

abit hard to do web development but don't want to do hardcore coding.

while there are more coding module in CS as compared to IS. I don't feel that they are hardcode coding because CS is quite theoretical at uni level.

How much free time do the CS students and IEM students have?

Also, how does the schedule of direct y2 iem students compare to the y1 iem students? I looked at the ntu curriculum but I am wondering about how much time does iem students spend during their free time completing assignments and mugging.
