its the fault of starhub/singtel etc. Who authorized Starhub to bill us on behalf of these thieves?? its evident that starsuck is a beneficiary in this foul play. Bang table till death, and ask Sh*ithub to tell them to collect directly. Simply dont pay. Sh*ithub needs to understand that there are people who backfire if cheated. Open a petition in CASE.:s27:

My provider is Starsuck. Yes, I have already approached CASE but I need the bill first, according to CASE. According to Starsuck, I have to wait for my next billing cycle in April to move the case to the next steps. My goodness, they are effectively leaving this in limbo and hopefully I will forget about it and pay as per normal. But with an abnormal billing like this, I am unlikely to just pay as per normal without checking. Noted, I will bang table till death. I hope I have a way to gather evidence, but we are just normal consumers, how to have priviledged information like that? And I am not one of those big guns millionaires to have connections here and there to help.

Bill Waived!

After 2 months of struggles, Starhub finally waived the bill. Throughout the two months of dingdongging, Starhub wasnt helping. I called IDA and one call from them to teracomm, the bill was waived. Long live IDA!! Starhub for whatever reason wasnt of any help, just pushing me around ala marble ball.:s12:

I encountered the same thing.

Yesterday, I participated in a game which poped out an invitation to play while I was surfing sina. I did play but am totally unaware that per answer I gave will cost me S$3 each until my service provider, Starhub, kindly alerted me today. I learnt from Starhub that the company behind this game is Teracom.

When I called Teracom's hotline, the representative told me flatly that the fact that I did not read the fine prints on their website is not their fault/problem and I received no further assistance for my oversight. She conveyed that I will be charged S$300 plus with a full stop. I asked for the person in charge here in Singapore and I was refused the answer.

So I was made to feel that I am the stupid idiot who played a game without reading the fine prints. Again, who in the right mind would in the middle of a fun game visit the game provider website to look at all the fine prints?

My interpretation of their reply is that if you are stupid and careless, then that is your problem.

I hope that those who happen to read this to spread the words so that there will not be more victims. Companies who treat consumers as idiots do not deserve to earn a profit in Singapore's market.

Dear readers, please help!!

i think i received similar sms quite some time ago but i remember clearly that somewhere in the sms, there is a sentence stating the rate per sms. unless this is from another company or the rules changed. actually if u r not familiar, just dun try it. if u wanna try it, read first. in sch never teach meh? read the instructions first before u attempt.

Premium downloads

Hi all,
I already contract with starhub about last 2 month for iphone 3gs with 12 G data plan. The first month bill is quiet ok.Now i already received for second month
bill and one things is confusing for me.They said ...
Premium downloads
Teracom Services - $ 3 8Dwlds 24 $
Ericsson Telecommunications 68808590
Actually i already download from some applications these are all free.
Moreover my download limit is less than 1 G for this month!
So anyone help me to explain.Thk:(
........................................................................................................
This is still happening, starhub says has nothing to do with them. The operator answered requested me to call Ericsson Telecommunications and they directed me to call Teracom Services. When I say I refuse to pay for things which I did not get, the person over there tell me to contact my service provider to tell them teracom refuse to waive the charges..... Starhub operator refuse to get their manager to talk to me, they are avoiding. What can I do ?

Actually, if one is stupid and careless, it is indeed their problem.
I see no wrong with this analogy.

You've been conned

Wish I saw your post earlier. Just want to let you know I have also been conned by Teracoms. My daughter unknowingly answered the survey which had 10 questions and each reply cost $3. Perhaps we all should put pressure on the ISPs to vet their business model of their advertisers before allowing the service to ensure sufficient safeguards to consumers. In addition, to allow participants refunds if they chose to withdraw from entering the contest after they realised it's not free.

I agree with you but unguarded consumers should be protected from unfair practises. I believe there is fair trade practise in singapore.

Exactly. It was my daughter who participated in the survey thinking it was a survey with a chance to win a prize but how could she understand the fine print that $3 is charged for answering each question, she is only 11 years old... it is definitely a rip-off... I understand the company is a eastern european company. My only frustration is how can ISP like starhub work in cahoots with these kind of companies!!!

The company is using the telcos to bill the person who uses the service, if you notice there is no sign up asking for name, address or bank account etc so they will only know who use the service by tracking their mobile number and billing it with the respective telco, and the telco will in turn put the charges in your bill.

The telco have no say in how the company implement the game mechanics coz its a third party company.

Its a rip off that i experienced sometime ago, that's why just ignore any advert that requires your mobile number. Freaking gimmicks!
