Just got an ASrock z370 extreme 4 + i7-8700k + NF-A9x14 cooling fan but cant seem to get anything to POST or start spinning.

Things ive done to troubleshoot
  1. I also have a corsair rm650x and a seasonic ss-660KM from a current working rig. But once i hooked either of them up to the mobo, the fans on PSU and the cou cooler doesnt spin. The blue LED lights come on the mobo but ive read on forums that those arent indicitative of anything, just default lights
  2. Ive removed all sticks of ram and tried to turn it on but i dont even get any beeps. Not sure if this mobo is capable of any beeps since there are no ways i can hook up the small PC speaker thingy to the mobo
  3. Ive also tried removing the small battery and clearing CMOS. still wont start properly.
  4. ive tied different power outlets in my house and same results
  5. currently its taken out from case for easy troubleshooting and ive also checked the case standoffs and underside of mobo, all seems to be in order

Anyone knows who the current distro for ASrock in SG? Googling points me to a dead website

Something short-circuited, preventing PSU from power on. Use minimum component like just cpu/motherboard/ram/kb/mouse and PSU to power up.

Avertek is Asrock distro, near Kallang mrt Station.

And it is installed into a pc case? Double check to see if there are any extra mobo standoffs causing the short.

ive tried with just rams/no rams/single ram in diff slots
does it need to have kb/mouse to test for start up?

Unable/can't get the speaker beep to work? I assume you have 1 from your previous pc, since i see the jumper connectors from the web pic

You might want to try and reseat your processor and cooler mounting pressure, at the same time check for any bent pins..

the connections a bit diff though. the manual says these are just for connecting to the headers.

thanks, will do this now

Did u mistaken the cpu cable (4+4) with the gpu cable (6+2)? Configuration are different and may nt POST. Also check if u had connected ur psu cables to the correct ports. The molex, sata, gpu, cpu cables all share the same 8 pin connector so it may be easy to get confused.

You may head over to PC care & solution, #02-32 to look for nigel or anyone there to help. Do google for his hp number and enquire with him beforehand if he is around on that day.
