help me with my setup!

hi everyone,

i will be heading over to simlim tmrw and will be looking to build a cpu w/ monitor at around 1.2k - 1.5k. i would also like ssd to be included

the only game i will be playing on it is Dota2, and i hope i can easily handle dota2 for the next 5 years.

hopefully someone here can help me with my setup and where to go in simlim square as i have never done this before!

650 Ti/7770/7790/650 Ti Boost <-- all will run dota2 at max settings.

4gb more than enough for dota2.

Don't get i3 processor. Get i5 so next time got new game u interested in that needs 4 cores, you can still play at medium settings..

The rest of the money, use on monitor bah.... Get IPS panel if you like better colours.. AOC brand is cheap and good..

HDD: Hitachi Desktar 1tb
SSD: Plextor M5S 128gb
GPU: Powercolor 7950
PSU: Seasonic S12 520W
OS: Windows 7 home 64 bit OEM
Monitor: Dell 23 inch
Case: not chosen yet

I understand my GPU is way too powerful for my needs. But im thinking it may come in handy in the future.

Do you guys think 1450 is worth a buy>

7950 for just Dota 2 is really overkill, though the 7950 does come bundled with Bioshock Infinite, Crysis 3 and Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon as part of the Never Settle Reloaded bundle (while game coupon availability last)

IMO, if you're not planning to play anything more than Dota 2 in the foreseeable future, no point getting the 7950.

Otherwise, the quote there for $1450 seems decent.

thank you for your reply. well, one of the reasons why i haven't been playing those games is because my current cpu simply cannot support them. and since they come with the 7950 i might just start playing them. i think i will head down to simlim tmrw, was promised a better price than the 1450 i was offered.

See if u can upgrade the ssd to an Plextor M5P and the psu to a FSP Aurum Platinum instead. Both items are better imo

4gb more than enough for dota2.

Take advantage of the 2 slot bandwith. A single ram will only use half the bandwith and no point getting a 2x2GB ram now. Just get a 2x8GB.

For TS, the quoted rig from bestbuy seems okay just that the graphic card abit overkill.

7770~7790 / 650Ti Boost
-Lower price and can get 60 FPS constant in Dota2 at MAX settings.

Save the money for future upgrades/get peripherals.
