Hello all.

A first time windows laptop buyer here (been using a MBP since forever and presently using a mid 2015 15" Macbook pro with retina) and with my budget of S$2000, I have narrow down my decisions to get my hands on a MSI Laptop.

Im torn between a year old USED MSI GS60 2PE with GTX870 (without the 4K display)

or the MSI GE62 2QF with GTX970.

Any advice?

Or are there better bang for buck laptop that suits my budget?

Oh ya, the list of games that I'm playing: CS:GO, Starcraft 2, GTA and Dirt 3.

Regards,
ian.:)

HAHAHA

I have exactly the same situation as yours .. Using a macbook pro 2015, sold it and change to MSI laptop

Just a week ago, i bought MSI GE62 2QF .. Cost me around 2099 .. My budget was similar as yours - $2000

I was convinced that 2099 with extra 250 SSD was a better deal . If not, you can still go for stock laptop @1899 without any freebies ... There are similar spec but different brand - gigabyte .. However, i prefer to spend more to have nicer LED keyboard. I really like MSI keyboard as you can customize the colour of your keyboard ..

Haha. Great choice man.

Do u stumble onto any issues on steam games e.g.: CSGO, DOTA etc?

Have read those issues in MSI forums which will somehow trigger the laptop to BSOD.

ian.

I do encounter a small issue as in the cloning of windows from HDD to SSD ... In a sense, MSI recovery system is based on the backup windows OS in your HDD. When you do a cloning, the person will delete the OS file in the HDD which results in the removal of the backup. So if u need to do a software reboot, you need to go MSI service centre and pay $120 !!! Luckily i got mine replace 1 to 1 within the 7 days policy ..

For gaming, i think DOTA 2 is nothing to this monster ... I am playing BF4 at high resolution .. No Issue .... So you can be rest assured, CS or Dota is not an issue .. Any more qns can pm me ..
