[HELP NEEDED] Building new rig

Hi all, have been wanting to replace a 8 years old desktop system with a new rig for quite some time already. Decided to bite the bullet after seeing some great prices on lazada during this IT show. Please help to critic/recommend the following build for any issues like cheaper alternatives/overkill etc.

Purpose of build: Daily gaming computer for games like SC2, CS, Overwatch, Skyrim, playstation emulators. Would also like to try higher end games that my computer can't support. Some photograph editing, no video editing. Not keen on overclocking. Would like to future-proof it for at least 5 years.

Budget: 2000-2500

Casing: NZXT Noctis 450 Mid Tower Chassis (ROG Edition)
Saw this case and really liked the aesthetics but downside is the price (289 on lazada). Any cheaper alternatives for a red/black case?

CPU: Decided that I will get an i7 but don't know if getting 5th vs 6th vs 7th gen matter much.

MOBO: Have to decide this together with the CPU. Preferably with on board wifi.

CPU cooler: Totally lost.

RAM: Corsair Vengeance LPX 16GB (2x8GB) DDR4 DRAM 2666MHz C16 Memory Kit Black (overkill?) 199 at lazada (on sale)
Not sure what's the difference between DDR4/DDR3.

GPU: Decided on 1070 but confused by the many different kinds. And the prices are all over the place. Please recommend.

PSU: Totally lost too.

SSD: Samsung 850 EVO 250GB 2.5-Inch SATA III Internal SSD
Seems quite worth it at $145 (lazada)

HDD: WD Blue 1TB SATA 6 Gb/s 7200 RPM 64MB Cache 3.5 Inch Desktop Hard Drive (WD10EZEX) ($119 at lazada)

Monitor: Dell SE2417HG Full HD LED Monitor (2 HDMI port) $162 from lazada
Not sure if this will do?

Any criticisms and help very much appreciated!

don't expect to "future-proof" it ....

maybe reserve a bit of funds to sell,buy newer graphic card at 3+ year

If you want to future proof it I think you should:

1. Go for 32GB RAM
2. Go for at least 3000 DDR4
3. Go for a larger M.2 SSD

Wow that's definitely gonna go through the budget though.
Okay what if by future proofing I mean the computer will be able to handle games for the next 3-5 years with no problems?

If you foresee yourself playing games in 1080p for next 3-5 yrs, 1070 will be fine.

If its 1440p, perhaps 1080 is required and may need to upgrade in 3 yrs+ or so, depending on the development of games by then.

I don't think I will need to go above 1080p, eyes too weak to tell the difference anyway.
What about CPU? Will getting Gen 6 or Gen 5 instead of Gen 7 affect the performance?

Just get latest gen since all quite similarly priced. Alternatively can get ryzen processor. Greater value for money

Well.... 8GB vs 16 GB I can understand. 8GB will cause bottlenecks with upcoming games, especially with such a low VRAM card.

As for RAM speed, Intel does benefit up to 2666, whereas AMD scales with RAM speed.

So he's not totally wrong, but 32GB is overkill

the mobo with wifi is it a small itx or those normal atx?

for 1070 will be zotac mini, with 5 years warranty.

psu can get superflower ledex gold 650W
cpu cooler can use those intel stock cooler

monitor can consider aftershock 27" prism+ monitor. VA panel with QHD resolutions.
