Im having this issue when running games such as dota or pubg , at random occasion it will just get stuck/hang, sound will also go on for another few second after it hangs.

My screen wouldn't move and the only option is to hard reboot

Can alt tab, the option would come out but it will not get out of the game, ctrl alt del also doesnt work.

Tried reinstalling drivers, system restore, formatting the pc, still the same.

Any ideas? Software or Hardware?

Com specs

i7 8700k
16GB Gskill
asus 1080

try running your ram speed at default. do not OC your ram.

if you reformatted on the same drive, suggest you try on a different drive..

Rams are at default speed. run Windows Memory Diagnostics Tool test also without any issues.

Able to run uniengine benchmarks and stress test (2h) without the any problem..

What PSU are you using and how old le?

If unigine benchmark works but not games, means your old psu may not be providing sufficient power to gpu.

Try with another psu or with stock psu cables. It could be the gpu port being faulty.

This gt nth to do with harddrive and ssd since he can do benchmark for 2 hrs nonstop with no issues.

it still could be bad sectors. benchmarks won't hit those affected sectors e game was installed on.

Test your rams overnight using memtest from a usb drive instead. Windows memory diagnostic tool does not always pick up errors... i had corsair rams that couldn't be picked up using the windows tool but only through memtest.

well at this stage he has nth to loose to try it out.. and like what szeli mentioned, benchmark does not access all the files randomly.. it just access one program and run.. whereas game read and writes to the drive..

also try out a single ram stick.. see if it happens..

Did you see the video i included? if psu failing, and the game freezes , should i be able to move my mouse?

At wok, so cant really see your video. U can try using stock cables to test bah. Last time i kena a burnt psu cable for gpu. Affected my games but not my benchmarks (although duration wasnt that long). Opened up my case and smelt a burnt smell. The connector head had melted and fused with my PSU connector.

I think for ssd, got issue = close to death le. lol. Not easy to recover back like hdd.
