Dota 2 do not even need an i7 nor i5 nor i3. They can run well on even a pentium G3220

Dota 2 dont even need till 32gb nor 16gb of rams. Just either 4 or 8gb

Just a regular b85 board is needed with perhaps a little bit invest more with a killer LAN network port.

And a entry level gpu such as r7 260X will do the job.

In total you would probably need about $800 for the entire rig excluding monitor and OS.

Please state what are the things you need,

OS win7 or 8.1
Wifi?
Keyboard and mouse?
Monitor?
Speakers?

Hi, thanks very much for your help. But i have a i7 laptop, with Nvdia 540M graphics, but it can only be on normal performance on it, with some lag.

For the desktop, what is the best processor, graphics and MB i should go without overclocking but with cooling system to make sure i dont spend what i do not need for the overclocking?

Lets say perhaps i might be going for other games in the near future. But also with the requirement to run with maximum performance and frame on Dota 2.

I would like to ask :
OS win 7 or 8 would be more suitable for gaming?
Yes with wifi for internet.
Keyboard will be getting razer or something. Mouse currently razer imperator 4G.
Monitor should be roughly 23~27 inch with HD graphics for gaming.
LED/LCD which is better?
Speakers yes, have not considered

Laptop 540m is rubbish for gaming

That is because you are using a laptop. A desktop performance will pawn a lappy performance due to the difference of laptops power limitations.

In gaming the most important factor is gpu. 540M is a entry card for a laptop.

Not sure if there is such thing as a gt540 for desktop. But if there is, the 2 performance is wide apart.

Thats just some explainations.

So lets say you intend to play other games in future. Not just dota2.

Wow thanks alot! i am considering between both recommendations. But i would be prefering for graphic and MB for Asus or MSI , the more well known brands, seems more reliable. And for the cooler, seems like Coolermaster is good.

1) mobo among all the 4 brands locally sold such as Asus msi asrock and gigabyte are trusted. Nowadays mobo is more of a heng or suay thing which is gonna spoil sooner or later. There are people whom buy high end boards ended up also went defective within a few months down the road. Buying a mobo will go by the convenience of the RMA centre location. The need for you to swap out the board if it is deemed faulty. Next is the features that you will need. Lastly the brand preferences.

2) Rams are expensive nowadays. And yes that is one of the reputable brands that is good and a dual channel rams.

3) Yes Thats the hard drive.

4) Yes a reputable brand for Memories.

5) Gpus. This is inconclusive. There are certain model that has better performance. Some model their for example r9 280x could be either gigabyte or sapphire that is better. It all boils down to their cooler used, their benchmarks, their overclocked out of the box speed and also the components used. Best is to search over the net and take a look. The thing is it is all the same chip used. A r9 280x is a r9 280x. It is only how the way the manufacturer which wants to implement it on a pcb board with their custom design and see what kind of performance they can push the chip up to.

6) Coolermaster was never good in terms of PSU. Only their high end range can be looked at. Anything GX series and below is rubbish PSU. Seasonic is the one of the best psu you can get out there. Other brands such as Superflower, FSP aurum series, Corsair RM series and above.

7 and 8) they are chassis and dvd drive respectively

Oh, thanks so much for the info, where should i get the whole set from? Fuwell, Tradepac or PCTheme? How much discount will i most likely be able to get if i get the whole set? And is it even possible for them to fix it up for me?

To get the most discount would be tradepac, but be FIRM with what you want. Prepare a backup list of parts in case certain parts OOS. But, if you are gonna ask the shop to help u fix up, TP isnt recommended.

Bring the parts to nigel's shop at #02-32 or ownself at home do. Pay him some reasonable fee for it bah.

Otherwise, get from pct. Wun get much discounts but they are trustable for the self build.

And for dota 2 csgo, they are more cpu reliant, when i upgraded from 5770 to 7850 i still get the same fps but after i upgrade from fx4100 to 4570 the fps jump is huge.

I have googled about TradePac, and between TP and PC theme, it seems that there are quite a few thread saying that TP might give used products or wrong, to ensure i would need to know how to check. But as i am new to this, i have no idea how to tell. And it seems pc theme is more reliable and honest, but its more expensive.
Is what i said true? So which place should i even go to buy. If i had the knowledge i'd definitely go to TP

You can start by gaining knowledge. Watch linustechtips and newegg diy guides... components are diff but methods are the same...

What i mean is i am afraid of being scammed when buying at TP as it seems they have a little bad feedback other than selling cheap things. Is it safer to go to PC Themes? Hmm ... i dont wanna get a used cpu or MB or something when i buy lol
