Help needed in building a new mini gaming PC

hi all gurus,

its been a while since i last posted on this forum. I have finally gotten my own house, and am looking to build a multi purpose sort of gaming desktop pc. I am highly interested in those bare-bone kind of m-itx or intel NUC or gigabyte brix PC. However, i do not know if they r worth diving into. my main purpose is for gaming and occasional work purposes.

Budget: $800 to $900
Games played: - The Sims
- Football Manager
- Civilization
- Fifa 18
- Three Kingdoms
- GTA

I do not need monitor as i am hooking it up to a 40 inch TV and 22inch monitor, just need purely the mini pc.

Appreciate if the gurus out here can help suggest what kind of parts i can source to custom make this pc.

That's a tight budget there. the gfx card might wipe a quarter of your budget and with rubbish memory prices.......might have been possible during black friday but uh....time machine anyone?

Might be a bit hard to fulfill friend. Anyhu, I'd go for a ryzen 1200 with a basic cheap mobo (A320????). Some cheap 7200rpm hdd that's on sale now/soon will be my storage go-to, maybe 2x4gb of kingston ddr4 ram, zotac gtx 1060 3gb. this should add up to somewhere close to 800. Perhaps do some research of my own to find a good small factor psu and case that's about 120ish in price, because I don't know.

Ah, thanks for the reply. Seems like I am really out of touch with the gaming scene liao.

Might as well buy a console n stick to using mac for work purposes.

For a $1500 budget

You can get a GTX1060 6gb card
16gb Ram
And build the PC around the remainder

Spend on the casing if you cam coz you will need to convince your finance minister where the increased budget went to...

Congrats! $1500 can reap you a GTX 1070/1070 Ti. With such bigger budget, do aim the highest performance possible for longest term usage. Don't think your finance minister will ever relese budget for you to make PC again in the near future...

Actually, the finance minister also does not realise the small component in the PC ( GPU ) can cost the most too.

Wow, great thanks for the replies. Haha, managed to convince the Finance Minister by postponing the PS4 buy, and devoting the funds for this mini pc build.

Using the pricelist from FUWELL as basis, below is the draft setup i am aiming, taking into the advices from you all:

- Giga Z270N WIFI + Intel i7-7700 3.0 GHZ $683
- Corsair LPX 2400Mhz (4GB x 2) 8GB DDR4 $149
- Gigabyte GTX 1070 8GB OC Edition (M-ITX) $669
- Seagate Barracuda 1TB Harddisk $70
- Silverstone SG13B M-ITX + CM Elite V.2550W $145

Total = $1716.. (burst budget by a bit)

How does the above sound? Can do?

I'd think the 2 builds are pretty good. Some things to note tho...

If you don't intend to do overclocking whatsoever, consider either a b250 or a h270 itx board. I was looking at Asus prime h270i gaming just now and that looked pretty.

Seagate don't have a very nice reputation with regards to reliability (credits: hwzSenpais). They can fail pre-maturely. Just letting you know. HGST (Prev known as Hitachi) and WD are 2 more reliable brands. Just saying haha.
