Hey guys i have rma a sapphire HD 7950 OC edition due to artifacts and the guy told me that the reason i had these artifacts is because i have a low wattage power supply. But checking the sapphire website, it states that the GPU only needs a 500w PSU to run.

I have not done any OC to the card and it's settings are all right out of box. Do i need to buy a new PSU?

I have gotten a new replacement card and it recently died again!

Peak system output should be only around 350w with his built mah. How can his PSU not enough power, unless the PSU is faulty.

yup using the seasonic 520 psu. 100% the card spoilt but anyone know what is causing this issue. The first gpu which is working can use to watch movie and play games(with artifacts) but now the recent 1 cannot even use to display anything. Before it died, it show some part of the screen like very pixelated and mostly black. then after rebooting it just died, the computer can still be powered on but there is no display. The onboard graphic still work thou. Will the motherboard or psu cause such stuff to occur?

So any experts experienced this before? Or I am just so damn unlucky to get a spoiled card twice? Any help is greatly appreciated! :)

I strongly believe it is the PSU not able to provide sufficient or stable voltage to your GPU that causes the gpu to be faulty. Use a multimeter to check the psu. Or use occt to check the stability of your voltage. Be warned, if ur psu is the true culprit, running occt can damage other components as well.

I am currently using the same psu as TS, running msi 7970 P.E with oc done, same board and similar CPU. So far no issue. I think the wattage is ok, maybe just bring the psu for rma.

Im talking about the faulty psu not able to properly step down to the correct voltage and regulate at a stable voltage to power up TS's component. Voltage and power (in the unit of watt) are 2 different thing.

thats y i requested TS to use a multimeter to test the DC voltage on his psu...

Agreed. I also suspect PSU not being able to churn out enough wattage to support the GPU power requirements. Faulty PSU if it churns out less than 400W total power, since Seasonic M12II 520W is rated 80+bronze (about 82% of power draw from socket converted into electrical power, the rest lost as heat to the environment). So TS has to check the current power output of the PSU before changing GPUs again.

i think i would just bring the psu for a rma. i dont have any equipment to test voltage and all that.
