Dear all bro and sis,

Hello! This is the first time I've had a major Problem with my notebook, I hope somebody can help me. :(

My MacBook White 5.2 (mid 2009) with OS X Mavericks. Upon power on the computer, the sleep indicator light will flash rapidly, followed by a long beeping sound (approx 2 secs) before booting up normally. This is kinda frustrating and worrying :(

Has anyone had the same issue before? Please kindly offer your advice on this issue.

Battery issue.

Check your battery.

System Information > Left Pane > Power (Check under battery)

It is important for you to know that if you remove your battery, your computer will run at reduced speeds. If you are able to verify that it is a battery problem, you can get a replacement battery by contacting Apple.

My battery was spoiled 2 years ago so I have been using it without a battery since then.

Usually abnormal "beep" indicates a hardware failure during the Power-On Self Test.

If you can boot-up into the OS, check to see if there's a failure reported under 'System Information -> Diagnostics'.

Alternatively, check your power supply cable for any sign of damage especially the connector part and also check your RAM. Try removing and re-seat it back properly again.

Have you tried removing the RAMs, clean the contacts and re-seat the RAMs?

I wouldn't be too concern about using hynix RAM tho.. Have been using normal Kingston value RAMs for all my Macs and all are still doing well, some model as old as 2006.. But some ppl may disagree, no hard feelings as I'm just sharing my experiences..;)

Would also strongly advise you, if possible, do an internal cleaning to your Macbook to rid all the dust especially the Fan. Also good to clean and re-apply thermal paste every 2 years.

That's what I did for my 2006 Macbook and 2007 iMac and it's still working till now..;)

P.S - I'm typing this on my 2007 iMac.. kekeke!!!
