Hi HWZ,

I need some advice on whether my current tower & PSU will be able to fit my new upgraded parts.

Current Hardware:

• CPU: Intel i7-3770 3.4GHz 8MB LGA1155
• Mobo: ASUS P8Z77-V LX LGA1155
• Kingston Hyper-X Genesis 12800/1600 (2*4GB)
• WD Caviar Blue 1TB 3.5” 64MB SATA 3
• LG GH24NS90 24X SATA INT DVD Writer
• Coolermaster HAF 912 Advanced Edition
• Coolermaster GX 750W PSU Blue LED

Things that I want to upgrade:

• CPU: Intel i7-8700
• MoBo: ASUS TUF H370-PRO GAMING WIFI
• RAM: KLEVV PREFORMANCE SERIES 2666MHZ CL16 (8GB*2)
• GPU: MSI RTX 2070 8GB ARMOR
• SAMSUNG EVO 860 500GB M.2 SSD
• WD 2TB BLUE

Can kindly advise which parts can be integrated together & whether I need to get a new PSU and/or tower. Thanks guys! Appreciate it!:s22:

Since its almost a complete overhaul, definitely change the psu, you dont want an old psu to fry your new parts, also casing is subjective but i would assume that u might want newer front ports (usb 3.1, usb c)

You can reuse the other parts for the CPU+MB+RAM upgrade.

It's up to you whether to change the PSU. Some feel that the PSU should be changed after a few years.

Same for the casing. It can be used though looks a bit dated. :)

Everything is good.

PSU can be reused. 750w is enough.
HDD can be reused, duh.
Optical drive can be reused, duh.
Casing, base on specification, should have enough space.

PSU if got warranty, use it. If not, get a new PSU.

Hdd - definitely
Optical drive - yes but depends on case if you choose to buy a new one(if it has dedicated space for it) anddo u actually use it?
Case - yes. Your own choice and preference if you want to change.

Thanks for the advice guys! Since I'm upgrading most of the parts, I shall just do a complete overhaul and change the PSU & tower as well. Thanks again! :s12:

seem like you just want to get a PSU and a prettier case haha,

MTBF of your PSU is >100,000 hours, that is >11 years of 24 hour usage.

so by manufacturers standard, your PSU would only be like 1/3-1/2 used life. Based on your CPU's launch in Q2'12 and now it's Q2'19, your PSU conservatively has been used for 3.5 years if 12 hours everyday and about 5 years if 16 hours everyday

your HAF 912 is a HUGE case that defaults support water cooling, and has enough space for 6HDD and 4SSD, seeing that you have 2 HDD and 1SSD, there is definitely plenty of space.

objectively there is no NEED to change for the upgrading of the mobo/CPU, subjectively whether there is a WANT to change is another story and that's a personal story.
