My rig is giving me issues so decided to upgrade, as it is in its 4th year. I have decided to go with Asus Z87 Deluxe (maybe include the dual) motherboard and the 4770K CPU. As I never had issues with Asus MB, I prefer to go back to them (my current MB was from some other brand which I shall not named).

1) RAMs - Hoping to retain the current GSkill DDR3 1866 14900CL9D-8GBXL (2 x 4GB) x 2 (so that's 16GB) but I am not sure if this is ok for the Asus motherboard.

2) Display card - although I could use the motherboard one, but since I do editing of both videos and photos with this PC, I though maybe a discrete display card would be better. I thought of HD7870, but not firm on that yet.

3) SSD - has been looking at Corsair Neutron GTX 240GB, but not sure if that should be the SSD to go with.

4) Power supply - current is Andyson F650 80+, for the new motherboard, but not sure if it can support it. If I need to buy a new one, I am not sure what should I be getting.

So... I need some help to finalised the listing so that I could shop tmr and get it up and running (or the shell of it) by evening.

Any suggestions?

Not sure of your budget.. But here goes..

1) Keep your RAMs... Upgrade to another 8 Gb if u want..

2) Gfx really depends on your budget.. Find those with direct CU if you can afford..

3) Go for Plextor SSDs.. Cheaper and around same.. Samsung Pro series if you are looking at Samsung series..

4) If wanna change PSU, change to Seasonic m series or x series.. they are almost the top brand (if not, top) for PSU now..

For SSD, Plextor M5P if you want cheaper. Intel S3500/Samsung 840Pro if you don't want to fuss about firmware updates and a smoother maintenance experience :)

Is there any gfx with direct cu within $300 range? Or what would be the cheapest range for that?

I got my rig upgraded - Asus Z87 deluxe, i7-4770K CPU and Asus GTX760 GPU along with the Samsung 840P SSD.

Now that I have setup and it's running fine. But I have another HDD to add in, and found there isn't anymore power slot available from my PSU (I already have 6 HDDs, 1 DVD, and 1 BR). I don't think the Andyson 650W is modular (at least not the model I bought, I think) so I am stuck.

Question now is...
1) Get converters - but where do I get those converters - like from floppy to sata type of power head? Is there shops that would sell this?
2) get a new power supply that is modular got slots for more of such things - and maybe a higher range one to supply enough power..

I presume BR is bluray? if so, can remove your DVD drive, since BR drive can do wad DVD drive do.... that will free up 1 SATA port..Otherwise you could get a SATA splitter

Depends. Not all BR drive are able to rewrite DVD or BR.

For instance the LG 12x Bluray ROM is only for read only. No writing on BR nor DVD.

So got to depends whether does he need to write also. If so then he got to keep both. If not then can use only one.

It's not the SATA port that I got issue with - SATA port I still have another 3 more ports to use. It's the power supply line/port that is limited.

Don't remember what model I have but I use both - so I need more power cables.

Do a search on t258jgn.... i remember he have something like molex to 4x sata ports which can be connected to PSU.... And, if im not wrong, try not to connect too many SATA ports into 1 single connection. Not enough power or something, keep to a max of 4.

Yeap. Probably not enough current to provide.
