A question from a newbie with prepaid cards and thank you for sharing your thoughts and guidance.

1. For prepaid hi-Cards, is there a prefix for all such prepaid cards? For example, the one I have starts with “901” and I wonder whether there is such designation?

2. If my phone is autoroaming and I get called from a Singapore line (whether land or mobile), will it be the ringtone of that country I am roaming in or the Singapore one?

3. Has anyone had this experience before:

A postpaid subscriber has a prepaid voicemail service when his phone is switched off in Singapore. In other words, the person insists that his number is a postpaid line although the voicemail mentions that it is a HiCard subscriber. The person says that it is a repeat problem which Singtel cannot fix – any truth or experience here?

Thank you for reading and any guidance here.

Yes. If the subscriber was overseas when a call was made to this number, would the ringtone heard by the caller be the overseas ringtone (and not the SG one)?

q3: not sure what you mean

To simplify the qn - would it be possible that a postpaid subscriber ("normal Singtel mobile number) would have a prepaid ("Hicard number") voicemail message greeting due to a "mix up"?

In other words, the person is saying that although the voicemail message states that the "Hicard user is not available etc etc", this was a Singtel technical error and the line was that of a post paid Singtel number.

Hope this clarifies. Thank you.

For question 2 - when the subscriber is roaming ie outside Singapore, when someone calls that person, what would be the ringtone?

The overseas ringtone or the SG ringtone?

I'd think that so long as the line is roaming, the ringtone will be the roaming/overseas type.

Can't think why there should be a difference between our local prepaid and postpaid lines.

Both lines shouldn't be mixed up unless you've set a "forward call" option...?

Is it just me or are you having a dispute with someone over whether a call was actually put through or something?

Anyway, you might want to contact Singtel and check with them, if you think there's a technical error on their side.

Could it be that postpaid no. was port over from Hicard no. and some how the voicemail message was "carry over" ?

I don't think there was any porting done hence was a unilateral glitch by Singtel - as purported by the subscriber - which I am trying to verify.

Thank you for your help.

As long as your ringtone is the normal dial tone, it would be overseas.

If you have Connecting Tones VAS, it would still be the same tone.

I believe it is a normal dial hence and no Connecting Tones VAS.
Thank you for your help and guidance here.
