Help needed to get a pc

Hi all,

I’m planning to get a pc that can last and yet possible for my son to play game.
I don’t really have much budget
Following is the min spec that I’m looking for
-I7 10 gen
-Min gtx 1660 graphic card (something value for money)
-Min 256 ssd

Any recommendation ?

Adata SX8200 Pro 512GB SSD = $138
Zotac 1660 Super 2-fan = $340

Total = $1133

If this exceed your budget, can forget about buying first hand.

If you look for bang for buck, try going for AMD Ryzen instead of Intel.

Do you know what sort of games he's going to play and monitor resolution ? This will impact what sort of hardware we will recommend.

He play games like feed and grow fish, maneater, human fall flat, gang beasts, amazing frog, gta5, gary's mod and some simulation game and open world games

Ryzen 3600 + B450 board for best value cpu + mobo combo
2x8gb ram 3000mhz is alright for price
gtx 1660super for value / rtx2060super for decent performance in some harder to run games like gta5
Any 500gb with cache is good, 500gb isnt too expensive nowadays

if you ok to risk without warranty can buy many cheap stuff from taobao. everything can get from there except gpu and psu and pc case

in fact I build mine everything from taobao which cost 300+ last few years exclude gpu and psu and case

if you're ok to taobao here are the list well good to play games at high settings

ryzen 5 2600 + msi b450m a pro max = $220
stock AMD fan = $7 (or can buy aftermarket)
t-force delta R 2x8GB ram at 3000Mhz = $94
Seagate barracuda 1tb = $40
WD green SSD 240GB = $57
total : $418 (exclude shipping,but you will looking at roughly 50+ sgd shipping for everything)

the price can be $1-10 more or lesser depend on seller shop

and for GPU can get gtx 1070 from carousell.. ask seller got warranty not.. roughly $240 for used one

PSU buy first hand from lazada / shopee / qoo10 with 80+ gold 600w seasonic around $130++

CASE can grab from carousell also .. tecware m for roughly $50-60

to sum up : $853-ish

edit : in case you looking for ryzen 5 3600 cpu .. it cost $280 for the same motherboard as above instead of $220

Ok. I think the most graphic intensive game there will be GTA 5. So you can build the system for that and it should handle the rest with ease.

Your son is very lucky. This is like a high end spec already. Don't expect to come in cheap.

This is excluding OS license cost unless he is thi king in getting those unauthorized one.

You probably save only $100+ from the CPU. The rest no different in price. Trying to get from overseas? Consider most items has 2 or 3 years warranty. Not worth at all.

u can also consider 1650 super gpus, they still deliver playable fps at max settings 1080p for many games and still cost about $100 less than 1660/super.

if not afraid to go 2nd hand carousell also have rx570/580 for about $150, which in turn is another $100 cheaper than 1650 super, but of course need to consider how much it was abused and warranty left.

For that budget will be a 3300x with 2060 or 3600 with 1660 setup already. For gaming definitely 3300x with 2060 recommended.
