Help needed to upgrade my pc

Hi guys, out of the pc upgrading and stuff for quite awhile now, I am trying to upgrade my pc as the current setup which is in my profile is dying on me. Will be needing this pc for everyday usage like web surfing, maybe gaming abit here and there but will prefer something that can last for quite awhile. I guess I could keep my current PSU(Cooler Master Extreme Power Plus - 500W) and both my HDD 1TB black and blue? Someone please enlighten me on this, but is it a need to get SSD?

DVD rom not needed as well as my old one still can use. Same goes for monitor, keyboard, mouse and OS.

Budget is perhaps around $800-1k. Appreciate the help! TIA!

First to throw is your PSU. Not only it is already too old and depreciated. It uses poor interior electrical component raising hazard level exponentially.

And if your ODD still uses IDE/ATA interface, it gonna go too as IDE/ATA connector has already gone obsolete years ago. It's now all SATA based.

thanks for the reply, if PSU gotta go, then it gotta go, haha. but i guess yea i can keep both the HDD, both are SATA

How about DVD drive?

Oh and about SSD, you are not paying for thre capacity but predominantly for its speed and responsiveness that will be the best upgrade ever to any system.

yeap DVD is SATA too, let me get some knowledge from u, so do ppl install the OS on the SSD? or the HDD?

ok bought some of the items that u recommend le. but 1 question here. the rams recommended to buy just 1x8GB? or 2x4GB will run better? cus last time have such thing as dual channel. now le?

You won't see any performance difference in real world situation.
