Help needed! Unknown android data usage!

Dear all, I need desperate help. I got an android for my dad and he only uses simple functions like playing Chinese chess online and WhatsApp. His application data usage also shows the same. However, I just found out that this month his data overshot by 4gb. I checked his phone's overall data usage and it tallies with StarHub's usage. However, when I went into the application specific data usage, there isn't anything that that uses anything close. Please help! Thanks a lot!

I just turned on the data limit after I realised the data was so far overshot

but may i ask did your dad used internet to watch some things?

like google or other browsers?

next does the chinese chess have any ads playing when your dad is playing the game?

Drag the bottom left slider all the way to the left, so that it covers the whole december period, then the phone will show you more details/app that is draining the data.

You used WhatsApp video calling is it? Or downloaded huge files?

I did a short demo to my friends on Kodi when chitchatting on Android stuff.

Just a short 15mins, including installation of kodi and fusion repo, exodus addon, few minutes of movie.

I was surprised thats 700-800MB data.

Maybe he did watched many online ads which include demo videos usually found in some ad-supported free-to-play games apps.
