For custom WC is either do it right and splurge or don't do it at all

because it will not just look bad and also performs bad... and in worst case scenario even damage ur system.

so i recommend for ppl who wants to try custom WC loop to save at least 1k and above before they start building.

u need a big enough case "which cost alot" with good sturdy materials, u need alot of fittings, rads, tube, reservoir, coolant etc etc too
careful planning and lastly even some custom work like drilling and stuff to make sure everything fits.

my wc loop i feel is quite a fail for me as its pretty squeezy and i have to mount all my
rads outside the case.

just my 2cent hehe

I should be more specific, as you may or may not know the r9 290 runs hot right out of the box and i'm overclocking both my cpu and gpu to get the most out of them, which is the whole point of wc?! aesthetics will be great with a nice cable management and choice of products, you don't have to watercool.

I can up my budget to >600
<800
I think it's doable just takes time and effort to source, BRAND PLEASE?!
XSPC,EK,ETC?
Which website?(Maximum Pc,etc)

i seriously urge u to save first,
or u can buy parts by parts.

start with a big enough full tower case like perhaps a corsair 800d ?
then comes all the waterblock, then plan how are u gonna set it up depending on your case then get the appropriate fitting and rad, reservoir, fittings etc.

its not a easy things as u thought it will be... most probably gonna take u weeks to setup.

if u want to save on various parts u can always get xspc bundles... they are good for starter but corrodes if u don't maintain it well.

just imagine if u get a full tower Obsidian 800d which cost around 500 ?
that alone leaves u with only 300 left hahaha but its a worthy investment
as a good case can last u VERY long and u dont need to change it at all. :s12:

pls don't go that route as i have and im regretting it

a congested case will not just leads to accumulation of dust and dirt
but also limits airflow for your fans to push the heat off the radiator.

as u can see above picture i posted....
it might look OK but think about it.... what if u need to upgrade things what if u need a bigger rad for a better cooling ?

there are alot of factors u did not look into there.
i rather get a freaking big full tower case and play around with it serious

a normal 1 can look like this in a big case:

but also got the flexibility to look like this too:

My NZXT Switch 810 not big enough?! lol.. 800d vs switch 810.. no diff leh bro! Do you have an idea how big that beast of a case that is?! Unless you are comparing it with some case labs cases, otherwise they are all full towers.. XD
What saving are you talking about.. man its down to the right choice of products! I ain't going to change my case lol.
Whats's there to upgrade huh?! wouldn't a quick disconnect solve the problem if i add a 2nd gpu in for wc or add a rad in?

No difference? u sure? 800D has a mid plate which serves as a more estate in space.

With your budget, you already have problems getting a decent setup you still can set aside for QDC.

As you stated you wan to cool CPU, GPU and wants a 480 rad and 80mm 240rad.

Why not you share with us, what are the items you think your budget allows you to get. Honestly, I am really keen to know what could u get with your budget.

This setup, watercooling only, is more than $500.
Yet to add another radiator and waterblock to help cool my r9 290.

actually, i feel that 810 is better a case than 800d for watercooling. since it can fit the same 360 for both, the only difference i see is the 810 has hard mount in the front and bottom for 240 whereas the 800d doesnt. so in theory should be able to fit 120 back 360 top 240 bottom and 120 front if rads is a concern. though i believe 360 top and 240 bottom is more than enough. would say changing to a 800d is taking a step back. its ts first time wcing. i feel the 810 is more wc friendly compared to the 800d. his budget of 600-800 i would say is enough to do stuff. his budget of max 800 is doable for a cpu and gpu loop with compression fittings and 360 rad and a 240 rad.

I am using 800D and with modding one could mount a 240mm rad btm.

I do note that 810 need not to be modded so be able to mount more rads. like I mentioned, the pros for 800D is becuase of the mid plate which allows you to place pumps/ pump tops on it and with decent mod (lightbox) it would look kickass.

There is a reason why a lot of build logs used 800D to mod.

I would like emphasis that I am not saying 810 is no good and not recommending TS to switch to 800D.

As for his 800 budget and what he wants. I took a step to help him check with prices from Xtreme cooling.

480mm G Changer - $180
240mm G Changer - $120
D5 Pump - $125
EK CPU Clean - $115
GPU - $150 - 160 (dont have EK, only XSPC)
EK X3 250 Res - $89

With just the above the total is already $789 not including fittings/ coolant/ tubing.

Anyway I am here to just give my 2cents worth of comments. Its TS money / rig afterall. Its his call his goal in WC. What I can say is TS should save a bit more then build his WC.

XSPC Raystorm - 50
XSPC EX 240mm - 50
XSPC EX 360mm - 60
EK Res + Pumptop + Mcp655 - 135
Monsoon Comp Fittings x 12 - 72
EKWB 290x WB - 110
Primochill Advanced LRT - 25 for 10 feet
Shipping - 80

580USD without discount.

580 x 1.3 x 1.07 = 806SGD. Best I could do.
