Help on application process (which choices to put first)

Hi I have just received my A levels results and I am currently deciding on what courses to apply for and am wondering whether the order of my choices will be important. My results are mediocre at 72.5 that seems to limits me to some courses only. My interests are mainly in FASS / social sciences / economics or Business courses. I am interested to put NTU business in one of my choices for NTU but since my results didn't meet the requirements there's high chance need to appeal.. Will the chances be very low? And since application process Is done via the order of choices, is it still viable to place NTU business as first choice and sociology as second choice?(which I have higher chances of getting into?) this is because I'm not sure how appealing may work.. If I put sociology as first choice and got in, can I still try appeal for business(if I placed it as second choice? Ie do you have to be rejected to appeal or you can try for other courses you stated too?) will I get higher chances for a secured place by putting sociology as first choice? Similarly should I still try for SMU business ?

Apply for all singapore universities, don't leave out any. NUS, NTU, SMU, SIT & UniSIM Full-time have the courses you want, business-related and social science.

You can always appeal even if you get an offer, there is no need to reject the offer. If it is same uni, they will auto update your offer. If diff uni, you will have to reject or withdraw from the course after you get your new appeal offer.

For me, I will place my choices base on my interest and within the 10th percentile IGP. I won't risk putting courses beyond my reach. If need be, I can always do a double major or minor for my other interest.

If I were you, I would put e course which i love greatly for all big 3 unis first.

NTU and NUS business may be very hard to get into, but SMU on the other hand, you are moderately below the 10th percentile.

Your UAS score:72.5
(SMU BIZ IGP ranking) points: 76.25

Difference: -3.75

But even so it is not guranteed you Will be shortlisted 100% because biz itself is v competitive. From your score it sounds you have 3 c's for all your H2's buthave 2 B's & 1 A's for either H1, GP or project work.

U may get shortlisted, cos smu dont solely look at grades if u are not drastically far from the 10th percentile and are able to write a good short essay abt urself on e online application portal.

All u have to do if u r shortlisted is to do well for e grp interview! Good luck!

Hi, thanks for the reply! guess i'll try for business SMU in my first choice then and hopefully get shortlisted and do my best for interview tks!
what i am concerned about though.. is if i placed eg. business as first choice which i missed the IGP slightly.. while another person with same UAS placed eg. sociology (which our points met the IGP) as his first choice, will he be accepted first /preferred into sociology?

asking coz i still want a safety ground where i'll probably be able to secure at least the social sciences course. so im wondering if the order of my choices may affect the chances of getting into the courses..

what i am curious about is, if im accepted for my first choice, will i still be able to appeal for my second choice(which i might have missed the 10 percentile by a bit and thus placed in as 2nd choice)?

and i do see your point about taking what im also interested as double major or minor later on, i guess thats probably a good idea

Regardless of choice position, you can still appeal for other courses, even if you get an offer.

If you get an offer from NUS FASS before appeal window and accepted it, later you manage to get offer from NTU Business after appeal. You will then decide whether you want NTU Business or not. If you want NTU Business, you have to accept NTU Business offer and email NUS FASS to withdraw from their offer.
