Hi,
I have a monitor and CPU from 5 years ago, the Acer Predator G7700. I would like to find out if i am able to re-use the CPU and change its parts? Will the wiring be compatible with today's components? I would like to build it up to more recent and new components. Hopefully being able to cut some cost by using back some components like the CD-ROM and Liquid cooling if it can be re-used.
I would be using the computer for playing games like Battlefield 4 and other high graphic demanding games. I would like to play them in high settings. My budget is about $1500-$2000. Please advise. Thank you.

The mounting hardware will be different... so it is useless...Can convert your old rig into HTPC for movies n such...

I see. What do you do with your old PC's and screens? Do you just throw them away?

Alright, I have decided to get a new case and screen with new components. Anyone can recommend me what components to get and what case is good. My budget can be flexible. Currently budget is about $1500 - $2000 for CPU. i already have a monitor in mind which is the DELL one that costs $209 at CEE. Heard the Asrock can boot up quite fast, if its true, i would like to include it in my PC.
