Help on gaming rig ($1800, CPU only)

Hi all,

I want to build a gaming rig to play games like Bf4,COD:Ghost,etc....My current com can only support low. So its time to upgrade.

Basic things i want:
16gb ram
128gb SSD (no OS needed)
Good GPU.

$1800 is my ideal price. But of course if lower like 1.5 etc if high specs are not needed that will be good.
Main usage, movie + gaming. I play mostly new released games...FPS.

To be paired up with a Dell 23" U2312HM monitor.

You don't need 16gb worth of ram. Its not gonna give you any performance boost. No unless you are using for designing, Photoshop, Maya, and other rendering stuffs.

Thanks for the reply roy. But i want this com to last 5-6years. Also multi tasking on the com is not possible if i get 8gb as my work app already takes up 5gb+ and running both work & game is not possible.

Thinking the pc would last 5-6years? Be it whatever you buy is not gonna last that long. A good and lasting pc is constantly every year or 2 it is recommendable to upgrade.

290x is a ref card blower. No twin frozr edtion.

If you want super fast ssd then go ahead get the samsung ssd. But in reality you cant even see the performance difference. The most in split secs. Not unless you want to do serious benchmarking then there is a difference.

8gb should be enough. Not unless you wanna open 2 games at 1 time which is redundant. And not sure what application you opened till need 5gb worth of ram. If you scared then just get the 16gb ram.

Corsair Vengeance Pro 2133MHz CL11 or Gskill Ripjaws 2133MHz or AVEXIR Core 1600c10?

Which should i choose? Saying that i dont want to upgrade it for 4 years but want it to be up-to-date as possible

Possible there is something wrong with the ram memory issues.

But anyway,

Only take the high rams if you are intending to do overclocking.

Else it offers no visible performance under our naked eyes. Not unless you doing some benchmarks.

A normal 1600mhz will do fine.

GTX770 is a rebadge model of the GTX680.

If you want value for money then the obvious answer right now is the AMD GPUs.

Nvidia is going for a price adjust soon, but it is still currently on a high price.

So r9 280x or the r9 290 or the r9 290x

Best valued r9 280x 3gb equivalent to the GTX770 2gb. $425 vs $619.

Not 8gb, right? den shld be ok.. I play games with chrome tabs on, can hit 5.5gb liao... unless your ram usage hits 7gb and above, you are safe within 8gb...

The amount of money to go from 8gb to 16gb, he can use it to go from 128gb ssd to 256gb ssd with a bit of topup. More worth than underutilising the extra 8gb ram.

will it have a difference between 2x8?

So a Gtx 770 = GTX680?
Getting a r9 290x will be cheaper?

if you get 4x4gb, you will not have the option to further upgrade beyond 16gb. 4x4gb and 2x8gb not much diff...

770 = rebadged, beefed up 680.

r9 290x is not cheaper than 770 since it is $799 (cheapest with bf4, irrc) as compared to $600 odd for 770.

If you are aiming for r9 290x, wait for 3rd party coolers unless u dun mind a turbine engine in ur case.

Wtf is that ram brand? Get normal adata 2x4gb 1600mhz can le... or go get crucial ballastic 2x4gb rams frm amazon.... got gd deal.

No need for high end samsung pro ssd, unless you can feel the micro sec difference. get the evo or plextor m5p extreme will do.

EVGA 780 have not drop price, and not as worth as r9 290 though they dun hav 3rd party cooler. suggest to wait for price drop or can go get asus 780 dcii.

Change ur psu to seasonic m12ii 650w or superflower golden green hx600w, much reliable than corsair TX series.

Since you are gonna OC, best is to get AIO cooling, instead of heatsinks... Can try CM seidon 120m.

If you are gonna SLI/crossfire in future since ur mobo can support, you would need 750-850w psu. So decide now if you want to do it. changing the psu in the future would be a waste of money.

All the ones in bold can dont need to go till that extent and wont feel that performance bit.

Get a proper ram brand.
Get plextor m5p
Get a WD blue 1tb
For that price might as well get Asus GTX780 DCuii
Get the Seasonic X series or Superflower Golden Green PSU. Better than the Corsair TX series.
