Hey guys, I'm planning on building a new rig for movie streaming and the occasional gaming like dota2 (considering other games like fallout4, etc) Budget around $1,600.. Appreciate if you can give some comments.. Not intending to Overclock..

Do not need OS, mouse, keyboard, OS, monitor, speakers ,etc.

Intel i5-6600 + Asus H170 Pro-gaming $548
G.skill ripjaws ddr4 2400mhz cl15 2x8gb $125
Samsung 850 EVO 500gb $249
Gigabyte GTX970 G1 4gb Gaming $489
PSU - ? looking at Seasonic but open to suggestions
Casing - ?

currently using Dell U2312HM monitor.. any issues with the proposed setup?

in addition, i noticed the price drop of GTX970 cards across the board in only 1 week ago due to 1070 & 1080 cards.. is it advisable to wait a few more weeks? or it is unlikely for 970 to drop below $450 range..

Thanks in advance!

Ram would prefer u save the money and go for valueram, unless you going for a theme build.

GPU would prefer u wait a few more weeks, unless u are in a hurry to build can buy zotac gtx 970 amp @ 399 on lazada. Else u can consider RX 480 which will be out next few weeks.

Casing base on ur mobo is a matx maybe can consider those sff? But if u dun mind mid tower atx also have nice looking case. Or is that and any features u would like to have?

Can buy ram from amazon if the price is right. Bought my ram for only 80sgd But you'll have to buy it in advanced cause the shipping time earliest is 1 week :(

Yeah wait for 480 to comeout it will definitely shave off some prices.

If your build is going to be the fix type. Suggest go with b150 chipset as your requirement is not very demanding. 6600 model is not necessary as well maybe can opt for 6500 or 6400, with the suggestion taken, you can have 50 to 70 dollar more for video card.

Yup, selling my G Skill 16GB DDR4 2400 CL15 Value ram which is used for only one day, just $65. Box included. I bought it at $98 though.

i think i would stick to G.skill ram because of their quality?

for GPU, yeah i also considering swapping 970 for RX480.. and im not in a hurry to build.. but for it to happen, do i need to change mobo or cpu?

just want a casing which is big enough for good air flow.. no themes..

I see. Anyway just a heads up for u g.skill do have valueram too.

Well if u really want to save a lot can even go for i5 6400 with a B150 or H110 mobo. These setup won't get u any bottleneck issues.

Just how big are u looking for?? Putting on that table or on the floor? Beside good airflow will u be adding more case fans?

Mobo u need to change to a DDR4. that Asus B150M A D3 is a DDR3 verison.
maybe u can consider MSI Bazooka or Mortar.

PSU can change to a cheaper and lower watts. like ledex sliver 550W or seasonic M12ii-modular 620W

lastly casing not sure if u wanna get cosair 200r or 300r
