GPU issue??

HeyGuys,

Comp Specs:
Intel i5 2500K
Gigabyte Z68XP-UD3H
G Skill 4GB DDR3 1333MHz (1 4GB stick spoilt)
Sapphire HD 7850 2GB
FSP Aurum 500W

So while recently using my comp it started flickering with horizontal lines appearing and then turned into a grey screen.
So now it is in a boot loop: when started, 4 phase LEDs light up, CPU fans start spinning and then it shuts down. It restarts again with aforementioned details.
I can get onto the starting Gigabyte screen but it shuts down before it gets to BIOs or anything. Also has some horizontal dotted lines on the display.

Things I tried:
Reset CMOS
Reseating RAM on different slots
Reseating GPU on 2nd PCIe slot
Checking for any short circuit

Worth mentioning is that when I removed the GPU it can run successfully; phase LEDs go off and CPU fan spins for an extended period of time.

This points me to a GPU fault and warranty is up (bought it 2012)
Questions:
Could it be any other problem instead of the GPU?
Is it better to pay and fix it (is this possible?) or purchase a GTX950 ($229! on promo)

Thanks alot if any pros can help :s12:

It can run successfully means can boot into Windows ? Why you removed the GPU, you were using onboard video ? If yes then it gpu problem. Before you junk the gpu, try uninstall the gpu driver and see if the problem goes away. I ever encountered hard disk and power supply failure that caused boot loop.

Hey thanks for the reply. The board doesn't have onboard graphics so I can't access Windows..
Run successfully meaning it can keep running and doesn't restart / boot loop, the phase LEDs go off and fans spin as per normal
Will be test running the gpu on another computer and if it doesn't work I will just junk it, given that there are many video problems surfacing (flickering, blank screen, checkboard appearance etc.)

CS:GO should be the most intensive one .. haha.
I run these games with low settings, but looking for smooth FPS.

Ideally looking for one below 250.
Is GTX950 at 229 a great deal?
It's performance seems on par with the HD7850 or better.

Ya, that GTX 950 will fit nicely for ur usage and budget..

Buy from Shopback > Lazada to get additional 5% off

Do note that it will take ard 60 days to get the 5% rebate..

Go RMA ur RAM too, should be lifetime warranty..
