Hi. a group of 4 if considering going to Yangon for 4 days. is it worth to get a local guide to bring us around? and also is the hotel there expensive?
thanks.

i personally dun think a guide is necessary...most of the stuff can be found in books or internet...

4* hotel rates are killers (there are no 5* hotels) but services are good...
hotel 64 or something are ok (but think internet sucky)...

Traders is very central and convenient. Almost reachable to every sights and interests on foot.

Do you mean Amarapura, with its famous U Bein bridge, the longest teak bridge in the world? It's pretty nice during sunset.

Many people, including me, visit it together with Sagaing in a day. Visit Sagaing first, then U Bein bridge for the sunset.

Is Anapura worth a visit. I know there's a rustic bridge there but anything else?

Yes I mean Amarapura. Will be including it in my trip. Now busy looking for fresh USD bills since they are apparently anal about this. Really troublesome.

4 days in yangon is too long I feel.
2 days is more than enough.

I changed USD at the money changer at the underground mall linking Raffles City and Suntec. The USD bills I got from them are pretty crisp and new. Most of the bills were accepted by the Burmese for 100% value (though some of them were discounted by 100 kyats due to some very minior creases. The Burmese are quite anal about it).
