Hey everyone, hope to get some help here.

My PC might be an old 1, 6yrs old, less the gpu, hdd and ssd which change and install 2yrs ago. I did some adjustment for my processor like constant 2.8Ghz even when idling as i am having problems playing some games.
Everything seems fine till today, my hand got itchy, so i decided to install an extra SSD just for storage only and then....the problem arise....T_T

I try to descibe my findings in point form.
-upon pressing the power button, the pc will boot for 1-2sec, then off for another 1-2sec, then on again for 1-2sec then repeat.
-the above problem will repeat for 3times then it will become normal by booting into bios then windows.
-The problem persist even after restart or a clean shut down. Its like it will be there forever.
-During the rebooting of 3times, it did not go into bios (nothing appear on the screen).
-The problem persist even i remove the new hardware.
-Everything seems normal after all the reboot. window function normally, no auto restart, no blue screen for now.
-Shutdown or restart takes abit longer (4-6sec?).

my pc spec:
i5-760 2.8Ghz
MSI P55-GD85
Samsung 840 SSD 256GB(Boot), WD 1TB (storage), Sandisk Ultra II SSD 1TB (Storage)
Palit GTX750Ti
CM Extreme Power 550W ATX PSU
Kingston 8GB DDR3

I suspect something gonna do with my PSU but well :(
Will appreciate any comments or help given. Thanks in advance...

this happened to me also. but it will restart once everytime i power on. i found out that my 1tb drive has failed communication with the board for 243 times. even though my drive health was ok. once i removed that drive, it post once normally and through. hope this may help you.

Wah I also have similar problem recently after changing to new cmos battery. Press power button, got light but instantly will off, then maybe few seconds later will boot up, cycle may continue up to 3 times then can boot to bios, bios keep giving message date/time not set. everyday must set the date and time, but computer running normally, no BOSD or whatsoever.

Tried to re-sit gpu, ram, hdmi cable everything still the same, cleared cmos a few times. Now no choice just let it be but dont know will get worse or not.

Any idea how do I see/check the failed communication with HDD?

the system keeps prompting you for time and date indicates that your new cmos batt is flat. try getting another batt or use from existing machine. or you may give power to your system but system not turned on. see if it helps. as for the failed communication of the hdd, i used hd sentinel.

try clearing cmos. see if helps. unplug till bare system meaning, only your cpu, ram and power of course. hdd, dvd, ssd and graphic card do not connect. slowly eliminate the cause of it.

Sadly no, but months ago i smell something burnt from the cpu but never really bother about it because it didnt really give any problem, if burnt smell most likely from PSU than mobo right?

Yes i will probably get another new battery to test, previously before this problem i turn off the main power everytime i shut down pc, now i also do the same, havent tried leaving the main power on every time i shut down yet.

THanks guys!
