Need you guys help as moi ish a pc noob... :o

When I press the power button, the PC turned on for one second and off again. It keeps repeating itself, trying to turn on.

I brought down twice to sim lim to two different repair shops but there isn't any problem at all. My PC works fine instead..strange...

Can help me find the cause of the problem? I don't want to lug my PC down to sim lim just for another wasted trip...

Thank you! :D

My power cable is not long enough to connect to power socket...so I am using power extension cord..After changing power socket, it is still the same. Is there a possibility of power cable faulty? But if it is faulty, it wouldn't start up at all right?

These are signs of power failure in desktop. The potential causes are usually:
[1] Failing PSU - might be time to change PSU, try to borrow another PSU to test this out, the issue is replicated refer to point 2.
[2] Overload of extension cord, issue with electrical mains - I dunno how to help you liao lol.

1) Last time have this similar problem but changed PSU like 2 years back..plus sometimes my PC can turn on. But after switching off can't be turned on again...:(

2) Tried connecting cpu directly to power socket...but same problem remains...:o

TS, I have the exact same problem too, after I got a professional to come down and troubleshoot, first thing he did was use his own PSU to test the boot up and it did, then he tested with his low end gfx and concluded that my gfx was faulty. Otherwise all the test were successful. So probably its your PSU and/or graphics card that needs replacing :o

Just an update, even after fixing the new components, my pc happen to shut down again after an hour of use... My friend mentioned it could be the cpu overheated, requiring new thermal paste or worst case, the motherboard is faulty. :( really at a loss at the moment...

for me the problem is a faulty ram slot on my motherboard.

maybe you try one ram at a time and different slots .. see if your pc can post

TS, you might want to check your cable connections, like your power cable and data cable.

its your p55 MB, get it change and it will be fine. I had gigabyte P55 MB, bring it to the service centre and they test it, capacitor issues. :) just get another 2nd MB from those SLS shop or buy a lower end new MB plus processor, should be fine :)
