Hi friends!

I am using my desktop PC on Windows 7 for quite some time now, approximately since Mid 2011. I never had much problems with it and used it for web surfing and word documents with light usage.

Recently the system is giving me problems, it doesn't crash per se, but instead goes into shut off-hibernate mode.

During start up, it will load up to the desktop and once then, it will very abruptly power off. No sound output, no display output, no wifi output, no mouse output, no keyboard output. But the HDD, the fans and the power button are still running and on. If it does stay on, at random times on usage, it will still abruptly power off.

I thought it was the OS. So I did a fresh install. Problem persist.

Then I thought it was the HDD, so I did checks on the system with "chkdsk", the system shows no error and doesn't switch off during the long durations of diagnostics.

I have checked the error logs in the Events Viewer, and there is no error leading up to the shut down.

I am quite clueless with what to proceed on to next and I will appreciate any help at all, any self diagnostics tools or methods would be best as I am a student and can't really afford to purchase a whole new system. Do tell me if you want more details.

Thanks for reading!

List down the parts of your rig here. If using OEM, please state exact model of rig.

Could be dying PSU, though.

Bring your rig down to PC Care & Solutions, #02-32, SLS, and ask Nigel to lend you a spare PSU for testing.
