Hi guys I couldn't find a better place to post this thread since there isn't a subforums for charging...

Anyway I need help with my charger.
My OEM Samsung Galaxy W wall charger mysteriously killed itself, and now I've been charging with a USB cable from my computer. Obviously this can't go on for long, so I bought a wall-to-USB adapter.
I was of the perception that so long as the output voltage is 5V, any amperage within the range of 750mA to 2mA would be fine for my phone.
So I went to get a 5V 1A wall-to-USB adaptor but somehow my phone does not even detect the presence of a charging device. I tried using another charger that's rated at 5V 1.2A and it charged.
The funny thing is, my original charger was rated at 5V 0.7A.

So I thought the wall charger was faulty, and I tried on another phone (LG Optimus G) and it worked without a hitch.

Any help please? Why doesn't the wall-charger work on my phone?

Most USB output are 0.5A if im not wrong. Try a 0.5a charger. dont buy straight away. go to shops and test. It might be that the phone will autocut any power abover .7A as a precautionary measure to not overcharge/overpower the phone.

The weird thing is - I've tested the phone and usb cable against both a 0.7A, 1.0A and a 1.2A (all at 5V) and they all work.
Just this one doesn't work even though it's at 1.0A too.
I bought it off qoo10 so i cant really go to shops to test. Besides which shop at Sim Lim would allow me to test straightaway? (Not like their price is nice too - $15 each)

im guessing you've got a picky phone. my previous motorola handphone wont charge unless its on a 0.5A charger. anything above 0.5A, it refuses to charge. worst case scenario... find the same charger online
