[HELP PLEASE!] My Cat5e cabling not working!!

Moi ish installed 2 cables from my router, one to my room and one to my other room.

The first cat5e cable worked flawlessly, I was able to obtain wired connection from my router to my computer.

The second cat5e cable was able to connect to my other pc (wires properly installed, verified), but it stayed on "Unidentified Network - No internet access". Moi ish try alot of methods liao, diagnose it came out with """Local Area Connection" Doesn't have a valid ip config ".

Wireless works ok for the laptop, it connects to the internetz. but moi wired one cannot work. HOW COME ARH? SEXPERTS LAI!

lol you try different port on the router? make sure don't connect direct to the ONT?

Will test it tonight, because moi no have extra devices with the port let. But how to solve it on my that PC as well?

Have you check your Ethernet NIC is enabled and for Internet protocol settings to obtained DHCP automatically?

some Questions first:
1) are you using fibre/cable and what isp?(singnet/m1/starhub...etc)
2) what router are you using?(isp package or 3rd party)


Things to try while waiting: the 2nd cable swap ports with the first cable to test if the cable is working.

if it works then means that particular port could be configured to something else.

This case could be due to the fact that you are using an asus router on a starhub/singnet fibre skipping the 2wire(directly connected to ONT) in which the ports 3 and 4 is reserved for digital voice and iptv respectively.

I'm on m1 fibre with my basic Asus RT-N15U, provided by m1.
And I tried swapping the port, no it dosen't work as well.

I think still applies.

because you are on direct connection to ONT right?

means port 1 and 2 is for net and 3 and 4 for digital voice and iptv.

You may need to buy a switch. not very expensive.

Another router if u want wireless capability




PS: please try on port 1 and 2. if it doesn't work chances are ur cable is damaged. try another cable.

How to enable DHCP in Windows 7?

When you reach internet protocol version 4 properties

put both options to auto

Obtain an IP address automatically
Obtain DNS server address automatically


that's assuming your NIC settings is wrong

Have you verified by swapping the two cables to confirm that one of them always has the same issue?

Another thing to check:
- Make sure router is in router/gateway mode, and not in bridge/AP mode.
