[Help] Problem booting up

My 2 year old acer computer have problems booting.
Some of the scenarios i face
1) hang at "starting windows" screen
2) says "please choose a proper booting device" and stuck there

what could be the problem?

i thought as long as is booting issue is hard disk corrupted
but my friend say should be processor.
my processor is Intel(r)Core(TM) i5-3470 CPU @ 3.20GHz

i just changed my graphic card not too long ago.

any experts advice pls =)

Go to Bios to check whether the hdd is detected or not.

my bios dont have a diagnostic menu for me to see anything but its able to detect my hdd.

i already transfer the erecovery to CD.
so i was thinking of buying a new HDD later and then use the CD to boot up and see if it helps.

i only scared its not the hdd then i dunno what it is le.

You can try Iobit'S Advanced System Care or AVG's System Tuneup. You can download them by doing a Google search. These two programs may help you solve your computer problem you described. Failing which, read my personal encounter with this same problem.

I have an Acer Computer too, similar to yours with the same problems you described. It would load until the desktop page then hangs. Following the suggestions of our forum mates to do a systematic hardware elimination process, I thought it could be the power supply, so went and bought one. Everything went fine until the Desktop page and again it hanged. Hmmm, could it be the HDD going bananas? Gone and bought one, but same thing! Ha! must be the graphic card, bought one and same thing happened again. Only item left was the motherboard! But all those connectors put me off, it would be too troublesome to replace, one wrong connection and poof! an expensive MB gone. I had to seek expert help.

I read up on system crashes and found a lead advising people like me to drop by a gs.lab for a free thorough check. Found the location #02-32 at SLS but the name was not GS.LAB! It is Vivaldi, the proprietor named Nigel checked my set, made a diagnosis and immediately identified the problem as a motherboard malfunction because I had told him that the computer hangs, sometimes cannot boot and before that, it was very slow which confirmed his suspicions.

He said he will try to get for me a 4-slot RAM motherboard like mine but cautioned that it may not be available as it is hard to come by. Fortunately he managed to obtain one and repaired my set within 24 hours. I managed to get my set back the very next day! He was so kind as to suggest I pay him what i feel was reasonable! What a guy!

I had wanted to bring my set to the agent for repairs, but I could only get my set back only within one week, sometimes longer if parts are not available! What was I going to do in the meantime as I cannot do without my comp? I am a freaking computer junkie!

So guys, if you have a computer glitch like mine go for a free diagnostic check by Mr Nigel at Vivaldi at #02-32 SLS. You will find him a jolly amiable guy.
