when I boot up the computer, the SATA HD I have connected cannot be detected by the BIOS (it doesn't show up), however the computer is able to detect the DVD-ROM and DVD-RW drives. Please can someone help me find out what the possible problems may be?

By right, you should reformat and fresh install OS and all after motherboard change. Btw, if your sata hdd plug into the first sata port supporting sata3? OS drive should connect to sata1.

Connected to the first sata port, the thing is mine could detect the ddrdrive but not the hdd. The bios just could not detect hdd, but dont think its the hdd issue. Hmm

some old hdd can't detect in AHCI setting.

I will try the ide settings, now off to get one spare hdd. I think this issue is narrowed down to either the hdd or bios settings. The first time installing this new mobo i can go into my old windows as per normal, then subsequently cant detect sata hdd.
