Hi,

Hoping to get a good one to last me for quite awhile. Purpose will be for study/work/gaming.

I would prefer something relatively portable/lightweight with a decent battery life. Budget is around 2k thereabouts (student discount applicable)

Specs i'm looking for:
Display: 14" (thereabouts)
Processor: 8th Gen i7
RAM: 2x 8GB / 16GB
512GB SSD
Dedicated Graphics Card (preferred but can do without)

Currently I'm looking at Thinkpad T480/L480 but due to shipping time I prefer to get something locally (classes starting soon). Any suggestions/recommendations greatly appreciated!

Thanks! Definitely one of the options I'm looking at, but I'm trying to find lighter models if it's possible. Not looking forward to lugging 2kg back and forth every day :s13:

On a side note, any aftershock users here? Would love to know your views about aftershock's after sale services/warranty etc..

If you wanna game and you want it in a slim and light package for that low a budget thats the best you can ever get alr. Its either the prime 15 or the apex 15. Thin and light gaming laptops get as light as 1.8kg and thats it. The tech just isnt advanced enough to cram a full fat GPU and CPU into a ultrabook form factor.

Competitors such as razer blade 15 -4k sgd asus zephyrus- 3.5k sgd acer triton - 4k sgd
Dell xps 25- 3.4k sgd

And you must remember all these laptops come with massive, heavy power bricks that u gotta carry along. None of the thin and light gaming laptops can last longer than 5 hours.

Actually I think I should clarify I won't be doing any heavy duty gaming on the laptop (I have a gaming desktop for that), hence I do not need a high end gaming laptop. However I still want to be able to play a few games such as DOTA/steam games and run a few leagues on Football manager (maybe a MX150 is enough? Sorry not that tech savvy).

I get your point re: other gaming laptops in the market, but it's not exactly what I'm looking for atm, budget wise I'm go a bit higher if specs and build is good. Priority will be still work/study which is why I emphasis on weight and battery life more. Very tiring for a lady to carry more than 2kg+ daily even with a backpack lah..
