[HELP] RMIT ACCOUNTANCY or ACCA?

Hi guys, i am going to ORD in june and i have applied for RMIT Accountancy (Full time). A brief background of me

Age: 24 this year
Diploma: Accountancy (Ngee Ann Poly)
Savings: very little

Is RMIT accountancy( fulltime) viable for me? I took it cause it is easier than UOL and only requires 1.5 years to complete. I saw quite a number of my frens taking ACCA, would it be better than a accountancy degree from SIM?

I might not want to be an accountancy in the future and the reason i am taking accountancy instead of other courses is because of me doing accountancy in poly. Might need some fair bit of advice on this.

I will not comment on ACCA vs RMIT vs UOL & etc.

My advice to you is to get an accounting degree over ACCA because you may not want to work in accounting related jobs.

hey guys i had enrolled for management with accounting at kaplan royal holloway uol..but my fren told me to do pure accounting degree from murdoch would be better..but im afraid in the future i might not do accounting job if i get tired of it..thus which route would be better? Does taking a pure accountancy degree give me a better career prospect or management with accounting will do the same???

And also I've checked with icpas pe that royal holloway is a recognized uni to enroll into their examination..

CPA Sg has fade out. Now we talk about Singapore Qualification Programme for Chartered Accountant of Singapore. So what is it? That is your homework.

because acca is harder and only those certain to want to be accountant in future should take acca.

depends on ur own consideration. such as do u need to enter work force fast to earn money or rich kia got parent support.

are u a determined worker or slightly relax?

general guideline is acca might take longer and harder to pass being just exam based.

so u need to consider ur what ur criterias are. There isnt really anything worth comparing between this 2 course.

Do not let your past control your future.

If Accountancy is simply not your cup of tea, don't repeat the mistake.

which degree programme are you doing?

Some NTU engineering course.


Anyway, ACCA is for those with discipline. There is no mandatory lessons, no structured curriculum, etc. They won't even care if you attended any lessons or self-study.

However, thanks to all that, you can work full time while studying for ACCA, thus earning regular salary. For example, while I was working in Deloitte, some of my colleagues only has a poly diploma cert and was concurrently studying ACCA.


Nevertheless, once again, I shall emphasize, ONLY do ACCA if you are sure you want to be an accountant in future since a professional cert like ACCA does not increase your employability other than within that profession unless you have some other degrees as well.
