Good day,

I am using a Galaxy S4, about 2 years old. Recently, the phone switches itself off without me doing anything. It usually restarts immediately but now it doesn't switch on, even when I press the power button. I have googled for possible problems and solutions and they mostly say that it's a battery fault. But my battery looks okay, it isn't swollen and lies flat on a table. Are there any other potential problems? Thank you!

I am also facing the exact the same issue. Off itself n cant be turned on. I dunno if its due to the latest firmware update :(:(.

Another thing i noticed is that this issue only happens if my battery reaches 30% n below. After that very hard to turn on n couldn charge also.

But yesterday nite i managed to turn on my phone. I took out the battery plug in the ac adapter then tried putting in the battery and felt the short vibrate. It was actually charging. Then i waited awhile before i turn on my phone. Now my phone is fully charged n i think its most likely its due to faulty battery. But i will monitor and also make sure the battery don't drop to 30% n below

I try to take the battery out and place it back, it will only show the logo and switch off. I tried to charge it, there is no charging light on the top left corner. -_-".

can anyone how to resolve this issue?

Sorry guys, my phone off itself again. Tried to turn on, it will light up for 2 secs n off again. I go buy new battery. But no use. Seems like its either the phone issue or the new software update issue :(

yeah, my battery is working alright. same thing happened to my friend, apparently it's a motherboard problem. i'll bring it to a service centre to check.

I suspected its the firmware also. But just now, i brought my phone to samsung service centre at plaza sing. The lady said my phone don have warranty so i must pay $32.10. I said fine.

Then without even taking the phone, she straight away said my phone mother board spoilt and need to change new one n it will cost $200-300+ and that its not worth it to repair. But i told her that many S4 owners are experiencing the same issues after upgrading to lollipop. she replied that S4 don have lollipop and i must be mistaken.. -_-"

The she brought my phone to check with the technician. Returned a short while later, she replied that the technician confirmed that my phone cannot be turned on and its the mother board spoilt and need to repair. So not worth the repair costs of $300+. I just took my phone back and left. :s8:

You can use kies 3 to restore the latest firmware for free.

If after restoration and it still auto shut off, likely to be motherboard or battery.

You can choose to replace the battery first then decide if u should change phone.

Sometimes it could be due to corrupted microsd. So it's better u isolate one by one..

Don't bother with replacing motherboard, not worth it..
