as shown in the video.

any idea what's causing this?

-------edit---------
This is actually my friend's computer.

Was previously using an nvidia 560, but there were frequent cases of the screen just going blank, streaks of purple static just across the screen. Issue resolved when we used the onboard graphic card.

replaced the GPU with a brand new power color r265, connected via a dvi cable. the screen starts flickering now and then, but restores itself after a minute or so. Sometimes it takes longer but the issue is cleared after a restart.

Tried using 2 different monitors, same issue with the flickering.

I don't have the full specs, but the system is about 2+ years old.

Need more detail on your system. If u using graphic card, take out graphic card from system, use onboard graphic, if that doesn't work, hdmi out to another monitor or TV set and see if your monitor is working. Borrow another power supply and test it out.

connect to other monitor and see first.
If it is fine, then might your monitor spoilt or the cable problem.

If persist, the problem may lies in your GPU or PSU.
