[HELP] SIM RMIT/UOL which course?

as above, is it very hard for a person who studied engineering during poly years to jump to business related courses?


I'm starting to think engineering not very good for me, very under-appreciated, especially in Singapore. Yet when I look at the business side, I just don't know what are the job prospects and the difficulty as I never touched on it before.

At 1st, u might find it a bit difficult but then as time goes by, u will come to grasp with it. I am also not from a business dip therefore I have no biz background beforehand too. But then if u are willing to put in the effort and study hard, I am quite sure that u can do well too and shouldn't find it too difficult. As such, as I am a UOL student myself, I would recommend to take UOL , that's for sure as UOL is well-known and reputable and internationally recognized. Also, it has a direct honours deg and therefore it is starting to gain much recognition not only in the private but also public sector as well. Just my 2 cents worth.

My Diploma is a non business related diploma as I intend to switch. I am in Diploma in Biotechnology but then Deg I switched is because I can't get into local uni due to only average grades during poly. Intending to get different fields for diploma and degree so that next time if 1 field not suitable then want to switch to a different field is easier also. That should be all.

It happened to me too. I was doing Diploma in Chemical Process Tech. However to enter local university, it was almost impossible as my grade was an average grade B. Therefore, I went to study RMIT doing business course. Now already graduated.

As I am doing sales related job, the degree did help me in certain ways such as how to apply those management skills to my actual roles.

With your hard skill (technical) plus soft skill (management), you will find a bigger role to play in your organization.

I am doing degree in business management.

UOL degree is higher ranking than RMIT degree if i am not wrong. But UOL course relatively is much tougher compare to RMIT course. You need to be very hardworking if you decided to choose UOL degree course. Especially if you do not have any business course background. You will take some time to understand the concepts. Even for myself with a business diploma background i still find it tough initially.

No doubt, uol is tougher than rmit. I have seen some of my friends dropping from uol in e sem 1. Based on their feedback, they were not used to theory exam base style which most of uk universities practice.

The point is every universities have their own merits. If you are prefer project plus exam style, RMIT is e best to choose from. Unless you are those strong in theory n have good memory, UOL is e best.

I agree with you. It all depend on which course format is more suitable for the individual. For myself i chose UOL and manage to graduate with a good classification and land a job 3 months after the final exam.

If you think that you are under-appreciated in the engineering field, what makes you think that you will be appreciated more in the business field.

And business field is also wide. What business field are you referring to? Or you are just referring to general management area?

Just my feel that engineering is very under-appreciated in Singapore with long hours and I do not have a very strong passion for engineering to work in those environments.

I'm not sure whether I will be appreciated more in the business field, but as from what I think, I can't get into the engineering degrees offered by local universities, and studying under other private universities for engineering is weird IMO.

I'm referring to the general management area, but if you have any insights regarding which areas are more appreciative of people like me I'm glad to have any tips.
