Help troubleshoot: display issue

Background: using an old z77 extreme 4 with 16GB ram and 520w PSU. GPU is 1070ti mini

It's been working fine. once in a while, there are occasional ram issues but a re-seating of ram and some restarts will solve it.

The problem today: GPU starts producing artifacts on start up and after going into windows. it's un-usable. did restart and then it shows the same thing and code 43 in device manager. device manager detects GPU but shows an exclamation triangle icon. CPU-Z doesn't detect GPU.

tried:
- re-install drivers, both old and new (it shows installed completed, but windows says need to force install drivers again)
- changing GPU slots
- using my old GT 660 graphics card, it also has artifacts
- different ports on GPU. artifacts on both HDMI and DVI ports
- reinstalling bios (2013 version, which is also the latest)

all didn't solve the issue

now I'm using it without GPU, directly connected to motherboard DVI slot. but I can't play games with this setup. and ideas?

- Use onboard graphics, the motherboard have monitor output.
- Run Memtest

- If any RAM faulty, you have to buy a new pair.
DDR3 are rare these days, some shops at SLS still sell
them.
- Graphic card artifacts means the two graphic card are
spoilt especially code 43.
If still got warranty claim warranty if not.

To me maybe a stick of RAM is faulty, do also check
whether your PSU have issues also.
How to check is simple, under BIOS check all the voltage
are accurate or not.

Given the age of this PC of more than 8 years, there bound
to be components issue.
After you troubleshoot and resolve the above, recommend
do a reinstall of Windows. (*Reinstall Windows is not reset.)

Code 43 is either GPU bad or one of the video ram is bad.
If you have swap to another GPU (making sure it is good). Then very high chance is either power supply or mother board.

Best is that you got another working PC that you can swap parts over to isolate the fault.

If you have, just transfer your graphic card over and see whether got any issue. Then transfer the graphic card from the other PC over to your PC and see whether you get the same problem.

I don't have a 2nd pc at home but have a spare 1030 mini lying around. Slotted it in and it works fine. This mini doesn't require a psu 6/8 pin.

So I'm guessing the fault is now either the gpus (both 1070ti mini and 660) or psu.

Code 43 is GPU Ram damaged or soldering not good during manufacturing.

Both gpus could be faulty. Should test with a good one.
