Hi all, first time posting here.
Built my PC yesterday, turned it on and it worked fine. Downloaded windows, browsed chrome, played games etc., then turned it off (PSU switch off, 3-pin power plug off).
Today, Opened it up to put in some RGB light strips. Connected correctly (4pin 12v to 12v), checked all connections fine and tight, no cables/random stuff touching MOBO/GPU/etc., then tried turning it on
---
First attempt:
Turned on power plug, nothing (expected). Then turned on PSU switch. heard electrical buzz and saw electricity on MOBO (easy to see since the inside was dark). turned off PSU quickly.
Second attempt:
Opened up PC and checked all connections, then plugged into different 3-pin power extension. Turned on power plug and PSU switch, nothing, then pressed power button on case. PC turned on as expected (case/cpu/gpu fans on, MOBO/GPU/Fan/RGB strips on). Did not plug in a screen so did not see anything.
Third attempt: moved PC back to first attempt spot, plugged 3-pin back to first 3-pin power extension. Turned on power plug and PSU switch, same result as first attempt (MOBO electricity heard/seen).
---
At this point I decided it would be wiser to consult online before trying anything else. Couldn't find a similar situation/solution, so I decided to post it on a forum. If anyone knows anything about this, I would be very appreciative!
