My rig bought in 2009:

Biostar TA790GXE 128 + Phenom II x3 720
Kingston 2gb ddr 800 x 2pcs
Palit GTX 260 896mb graphics + Aerocool E85M 550w psu + Street fighter 4 promo
Seagate 500gb harddisk
Samsung SATA DVD Writer
Coolermaster Elite 334

Have since added a Seagate 1TB hdd and changed the heatsink. Com currently having problems, hanging for no reasons.

With a budget of 500(including installation). Can recommend me what to change (MB/RAM/GFX?) in order to have this old machine running smoothly again?

If change GFX card I need to have dual DVI output cos supporting 2 monitors.

Thxs alot.

there r many reasons for hanging. probably its ur ram or os hdd dying soon.

so i suggest u backup ur data in case something gone horribly wrong.

i would suggest u to run memtest and speedfan to check ur ram and hdd respectively to determind their conditions. before thinking how u would spend that $500.

Already ran memtest with no errors. What should i look out for in speedfan?

Mind sharing the parts with $600 budget?

The cheapest
asrock b77-dgs +i5-3450 ~ $296
Kingston value ram 4gb ~ $45
Powercolor 7850 2gb PCs+ ~$240

Total $581 @tradepac.

If don't mind topping up a little bit more can get 8gb ram Kingston for $78

Total should be $614
