Your mobo can support any LGA 775 CPU, but I am not very sure how are you going to find a new LGA 775 CPU today since they have been EOL for quite a long time already. Most powerful LGA 775 CPU should be the Core2Quad Q9XX0 series.

Your mobo has a PCI-E X16 slot, can use any GPU under the sun, including the top end ones like the R9 295X2 and the Titan Z.

Would be more cost effective and less painful to just get a new system though.

Cannot. Modern i3/i5 CPUs sold today uses the LGA 1150 socket and thus are not compatible with your LGA 775 mobo.

No, according to your mobo specs, can support up to 4GB DDR3 RAMs only.

Define 'normal gaming'. Name all games that you are playing.

Normal games like the sims, starcraft 2, dota 2 and online gaming...
The Q9300 is good enough for the Sims, DOTA 2 and online games, but StarCraft 2 is a rather CPU intensive game and you may be able to play only at High settings in 1080p at best if you pair up a Q9300 with a high end GPU. Hope you do not mind this too much.

If upgrading your parts, you are also going to have to watch out for GPU clearance limits in your HP casing and your PSU wattage support. Please state the exact HP dektop model that you are using. Do also take a measuring tape and measure approx maximum GPU clearance in your HP case, you will be very suprised at how large real gaming grade GPUs can be.

For the GPU upgrade, do you mind AMD GPUs? They are relatively cheaper and will work just as well.

Please also state your approximate upgrade budget and for easier calculation, the approximate cost of the Q9300.

Hi Ts, how old is your hp system? Counting the cost and hassle of upgrading of parts n the fact of availability...it might be more worth while getting a new system.

My HP model is CQ3260D and my modal is roughly around 200 dollars... Is it possible? Or if intel Q9550 much better?

1) What is your budget for your entire upgrade?

2) Got Mastercard?

3) Is the $200 the price of a new C2Q? $200 seems a bit much for a used C2Q.

bro is SAPPHIRE R7 240 1GB GDDR5 WITH BOOST good enough??
No, that card is weaksauce. Get at least a Powercolor R9 260X for $179 or a Zotac GTX 660 Synergy Edition for $189 at lazada.com, but the only remaining problem left is how much GPU clearance your OEM case has. OEM casings are known to have rather bad GPU clearances as OEM systems tend to not use relatively high performance GPUs and instead use weak entry level GPUs that are very small.

Also, do you know that you can also get a brand new C2Q from Amazon for around 100+ USD?

To put it simply -

Not sure if your casing can fit the card as it's much larger compared to your stock card.
