Hi all,

Can anyone advise what slot is this? Is this a M.2 or mSATA or??
Is it possible to put a SSD in this slot?

Thanks!

Looks like you opened up a laptop.

Why don't you share what brand and model of laptop?

Not that i am aware of.
Take for instance this Travel mate, it's not even advertised on the manufacturer's product page.

Asus for instance uses a Msata ssd as a cache part of its SSHD laptop model which isn't advertised as well.

Nothing wrong with what you did. To buy a M.2 SSD would also mean you need to hunt for a screw to secure it down too. I followed the link from to the laptop review... seems like the M.2 SSD would not be very secure....

Thanks everyone for your help!

I went to buy another Samsung 850 EVO 250GB m.2 SSD and installed into the slot. Replaced the 1TB HDD back into the HDD slot, and sold off the Samsung 850 EVO 250GB SATA SSD.

Problem solved!

There was no indication in the user manual, and I called Acer hotline too who advised me that there is NO m2 slot. Best option is to open up the case and see for yourself...

There was a screw in the laptop itself, in the M.2 bracket. I used that to secure the SSD, no issue.

Think Msata slot only used for PCNotebook @ Intel gen 5 and before.
M.2 sata is use between gen 5 to gen 7 and from gen 7, many has switch to NVMe format.

Need to take note M.2 (NGFF) slot in most case support SATA SSD or NVMe. Only selected OC/Notebook support both SATA SSSD and NVMe. So when you buy M.2 SSD, check you PC specification first.
