I've been looking at a lot of forums and stuff to get the best gaming PC parts at a budget around $1200~$1300 SGD.
Total budget $1500. The other $200-$300 is gonna be used on a new monitor + keyboard.

Motherboard problem
One of the main problems I have right now is choosing the right mobo + CPU.
Im thinking of getting the i5 4690K + Z97 motherboard so that I can overclock it. Reason for this is because im not planning to change the CPU + motherboard for next 5years at least(if its possible).

Can anyone suggest a good Z97 mobo with my budget so that I can overclock and run games on it?
Or if anyone have any other suggestions, like changing my CPU + mobo please do let me know.

GPU problem
Was going to settle for a 750Ti for my GPU but after reading up reviews and watching videos, I chose to go with the GTX960 2GB OC instead.
The games I play right now are just DOTA2 and GTA5(Which is why I wanted to get the 750Ti initially) but I MAY or may not play newer games in the future.

Should I just stick with the 750Ti or go with the GTX 960?
Or get a GTX 970 and just go with a lower tier i5 mobo + CPU?

Any form of advise or recommendation is deeply appreciated :)

P.S. - If you guys got any good places to get these parts please do share(Currently just looking at prices at TradePac & Bizgram @ Simlim) :D:D:D

Go with the latter? 970+lower tier i5 and CPU. 960 and 750Ti no point when 290x and 280 very close in price point.

If you really want a oc able processsor, maybe delay some of your components first (I.e., add on a HDD next month, only have your ssd first/use stock cooler first then change to aftermarket next time).

Thanks for the quick response monikernemo.
If I get the GTX970, what MOBO + CPU do you recommend?
Is the i5 4460 + a motherboard that can support a 5th gen CPU a good idea?
(Just in case i decide to change in the future)

If you wanted the 4690K with a Z97 board...

Mobo+CPU: ASRock Anniversary + i5-4690K @ $436
GPU: Palit GTX970 Jetstream @ $475
RAM: Crucial PC3 1600MHz DDR3 @ $77
SSD: Plextor M6S 128GB @ $98
HDD: WD Blue 1TB @ $72
PSU: FSP Hexa+ 550W @ $65
Casing: Cooler Master N200 @ $55
Monitor: Dell S2340L @ $210

Total $1488 from tradepac, ask for full rig discount.

Remainder from your $1500 budget go buy whatever keyboard that fits your bill.

Reason for this is because im not planning to change the CPU + motherboard for next 5years at least(if its possible).

Only Intel 9 (H97 and z97) chipset would suppork Intel 5th gen. But I suggest you stick to 4460.

Broadwell not too much improvement bah.

This is perfect. Thank you so much! :) But I might change the mobo to a MSI gaming motherboard. Just found out you can overclock without a Z97 motherboard :')

One thing is you have to balance out the overall price.

Items listed here are based on full rig pricing. Buying at Rakuten you get a better cooling GPU from MSi at a savings of $30 compared to the Palit but then that would make your purchase from tradepac non-full-rig. Tradepac typically charges your mobo+CPU combo by at approximately $50 bucks or upwards depending on which mobo was picked. Of course, you might get lesser or no discount on other parts as well.

If you want to buy parts here and there I suggest you get a quote on the parts you only want to get from tradepac and recalculate the total costs to see if it is worth it.

Alright, then i'm planning to just get the graphics card at TradePec.
One last question, do think its a good idea to change the Asrock motherboard to the MSI B85-G41 PC MATE?(Or any other MSI mobo)
Since the MSI has better reviews compared to the asrock mobo and it's more user-friendly in terms of OC-ing.

Truth is if you buy full system from TP, the max discount is like $10-$20 nia. Maybe im not good a good bargainer to begin with. But you're right when you said they charge extra if you're only getting a CPU+MOBO. No GPU = non full rig? Doesn't make sense if I'm not a gamer

Unfortunately, making sense doesn't apply to you and I. It only applies to them because they are the sellers, they making money :s13:

If you only get $10-$20 for FULL RIG then your bargaining skills is sibeh cui. The other day I buy my Rampage V Extreme + CPU + RAM, the RAM alone I got a $20 discount already :s13:

Nonetheless full rig discounts also depends on what parts you choose. Certain parts or brands they have a higher profit margin so they can give more discounts.

Bro, think u type wrongly for 4G Gaming, should be around $492.4 excl. shopback.

No rush man. Rakuten's mastercard of additional 5% runs every tuesday till 31 Oct 2015.

Based on citibank website, the RTCITI12 is suppose to run till end Feb'16.

So, you can wait till the Tuesday after your pay comes in. The citi code/rakuten codes might change though... But normally still quite good...

I'm still not experienced in the DIY scene and I'm ASUS biased in a sense, so IDK about MSi stuffs.

Does "user friendly" justify in paying more? Not for me to say, because that's up to you. I would personally pay for things like asthestics, better looking and useable UI etc but then that's also partly because I have the budget to support my "wants". Differentiate your needs and wants, and then check your budget, then consider if you are going to hoot.

Do consider what avsquare has shared. If u don't buy whole rig from tradepac or any other SLS store, they will definitely give u comparatively less discount. Since u got time, can factor in what items u will want to get online (Lazada/Rakuten) and what items u will still get from SLS and get relevant quotations before sinking in.
