Hello,

I am about to build my own gaming rig and I need help in finding the correct components. I am planning to play games like Battlefield 4 in Ultra and Total War: Rome II in similar graphic settings. On top of that I may be interested in using Fraps so I may need better components for a higher playable framerate.

Can anyone recommend me any system builds that costs <1.5k. Is i7-4770k worth compared to i5-4570 which seems to be the hot processor around here? I prefer Nvidia to Radeon too. Dont need 120Hz or 144Hz monitor too.

1.5k is too tight for i5-4570 unless u wan to drop ssd out of ur system..

Possible with ivy build

With nvidia it's even more difficult since ur budget can only include gtx760, which can't play bf4 @ ultra maxxed above 60 fps..

Then without my 1.5k budget, what is the cheapest build available? Then Radeon leh? I just prefer Nvidia cos of the features but if Radeon is worth a lot more then I will have to go with Radeon. Besides, BF4 supports Radeon graphics this time

1.5k can be done with a monitor but not 4570. 4430 is posible with an entry level mobo and no ODD with a budget ssd.

Asrock h81m dgs + i5 4430 ~ $ 295
ADATA 1600mhz 8gb Ram ~ $ 85
Wd blue 1tb ~ $ 78
Silicon power v60 120gb ~ $ 120
Gigabyte r9 280x 3gb windforce 3x ~ $ 431 (bizgram)
Cm 311 ~ $51
Superflower hx600 600w 80 + gold efficiency ~ $ 109
Windows 7 home premium 64bit ~ $ 115
Dell s2340L 23inch ips gloss panel ~ $ 215

Total $ 1499 buy at tradepac. Diy and gpu at bizgram.

It all depends on the quality you intend to play it with.

Most $200-ish cards can get respectable frame rate with it though do expect a performance hit if using fraps. A 650Ti would be a good start and the Radeon 7950 are reasonably priced compared to the GTX 760.

Will an entry-level motherboard affect performance. I may wanna up my budget to 1.7k to fit in a better cpu

No performance difference. Just that you will be getting 2 ram slots instead of 4. 1 gpu support instead of 2.

If you up to 1.7k you can consider a better gpu and a msi b85m g43 + i5 - 4570 ~ $ 356

Gpu can go for gigabyte r9 280x 3gb ~ $ 445

And a superflower hx600 600w 80 + gold efficiency ~ $109

And possible to get a better chassis.
