Help with installing graphics card

Hi everyone,

I need help with installing a graphics card into my old pc, the computer does not seem to be able to detect it or output to the monitor after I've installed it.

I was previously running on iGPU and it still outputs through it even with the new video card installed. I am unable to find any settings in the BIOS to disable the onboard graphics, I can only choose to initiate graphics adapter in iGPU or PEG/iGPU so I assume it auto detects in the latter option. I don't see the new card in Window's device manager either.

Any ideas on how I can get the graphics card to work on my pc? Thanks in advance!

What I've tried so far:
- Updated BIOS
- Tried installing Nvidia drivers but can't detect card
- Re-seating the video card
- Connect both graphics card and IGPU to monitor - output through igpu
- Connect only through graphics card (HDMI)- no signal detected on monitor
- Connect through igpu (VGA) - output okay
- Connect graphics card output to TV (HDMI) - no signal
- Swap HDMI cable - No signal
- Use DVI-HDMI adapter to monitor - No signal
- Disabling onboard display via device manager

Computer specs
CPU: intel 2500k
Ram: 2x4GB 1333MHz
MB: P8H67-I DELUXE
PSU:Corsair SF450
Vid card: Palit 1060 6GB
SSD: Crucial Mx300 500GB
Monitor: HP23es (Inputs HDMI and VGA only)
OS: Win 10 Home 64bits

It's brand new, 1060 dual. Bought from Convergence via Lazada.

From Device Manager -> Display Adapters, if the GTX 1060 is not listed then Windows is not seeing the card.

Please check that the GPU power cable(s) are connected and the fans are spinning.

If there is power, could be a bad contact. Try cleaning the gold contacts on the GPU.

How long has it been since you had been running on iGPU? Based on the specs, if you said since Day 1 (probably back in 2012), I won't rule out faulty PCIe slot

Yes, the PCI-E power connector from the PSU is connected graphics card and its two fans are spinning. Tried cleaning the contacts but no luck either.

How do I check the if the PCI-E slot is faulty? I don't have any other expansion cards.

Yes, I've been running on iGPU since day 1. This is the first time I am using the PCI-E slot.

Could be either pci-e slot is disabled, or pci-e slot itself gone already

Might also be possible psu not enough to drive the gpu, try disconnect everything from psu only left mb and gpu then see if you can see boot screen from gpu

Are you using legacy or uefi boot ?
Some cards can only boot via uefi

Tried with minimum components, same results. Fan turns on but no output, can see boot screen if use iGPU. The system is using UEFI booting.

Test with another power supply of 550w or above.

Got other system that you can try on? If it doesn't work with other system maybe card might be faulty. Maybe the card came DOA. Maybe can send it for rma or bring to nigel shop let him test test the card see if working properly. But if you got other pc system try on that first.

The GPU recommended power requirement is 400W, nevertheless I would test it if I could. I don't have another higher wattage PSU but I do have another 300W PSU. Is it safe to use two PSUs concurrently to power the system? Ie. using 300W PSU to solely power the GPU while the rest of the system uses the current 450W PSU? Will it harm my system?

U can find nigel from PC care in sim Lim, I see a lot ppl recommending him for diagnose

Please check whether your 6-pin PCIe power connector is securely connected to your graphics card. I had also bought the same model Palit 1060 GTX 6GB during the CNY sale at Lazada's Convergent online shop and it is working fine.

Hmm have you cleaned contacts of the PCIe slot(s)?

This can be tested with another GPU, preferably those that don't need additional power

Skali is the pice slot on mobo spoil. Maybe try borrowing an old graphic card to try?
