Help with Maldives.... anyone?

Saw Maldives on TV and is now poisoned....
I notice Maldives is formed of many small islands..
So to bros and sis here... pls help recommended which island is romantic and value for $$

Planning to stay for a week...
Budget bout total $4000 for 2pax
(Hope its not too little)
and hopefully to take a seaplane

Apart from the Capital, all hotels will be on individual island. Means 1 hotel = 1 island.

It depends on what type of accommodation you want. If it's a sea bungalow, $4000 will not be enough. You will need to have your breakfast, lunch, dinner at the restuarants. Drinking water, sea activities etc...

Sheraton Moon and Spa is 15mins from the main island whereas Holiday Inn is 1.5hrs away, by boat. I am more cheapo so I stayed at Holiday Inn. Accommodation to me is good enough as it's an dounble storey individual unit on the beach....

4k for 2pax is definitely not enough especially if you want to stay 1 week. Air tix by SQ will already cost you 2k+. Food and drink in Maldives is ridiculously expensive. Sea plane rides cost like USD 120 for 15mins. I went during Club Med's 1 for 1 promo already cost 4+k for 2 pax for a normal room (5D4N) not including sea plane rides + excursions. My initial plan of staying at Conrad Maldives would have set me back by about 10k for everything.

My friend went to Maldives for honeymoon for a week, spent 7k. They didn't splurge a lot so I think 4k is not enough...

PC is free for anyone to register. I am using American Express Platinum card, not Citi PM card.

Spend $2,720** using Amex Plat card at 10X points outlets, say Ion Orchard and earn 17K pts, which can be converted to 15,300 PC points = 1 night saty at Holdiay Inn Maldives.

Spend $5,440** at Cold storage during weekends and get the same....

$1.60 = 10points or 5points

Excursion cost money at all resorts. Snorkel trip or diving trip cost usd50 and up. If u dun try those, u miss out alot. Everything is in usd. Mineral water is as expensive as coke.

If you get there and do not want to incur more cost, then u will be basically stuck on the resort.

$4000 for 2 never enough. My colleague went to the conrad one. Stay at superior water villa. apparently went for snorkeling, underwater restaurant dinner, sunset cruise, private dinner at the beach. She say she spent about 7 to 8 K. If u don't join all this activities, it will be 1 boring island. All food and drink USD and air flight to the country, then have to transfer to small plane to reach the island.

But the photos she take of the place. Very charming trip.

Ha.. after doing some reading, you are all correct. $4k is not enough.. and I also realise that a week is too long for me..

I did a check and found that tour agencies that provides F&E is cheaper than I book the flights and hotels by myself...

So most likely I be gg to take a tour package... n I be stocking up on bottled water before boarding the plane to Maldives.. wahahaha

Did some research on maldives and for 4k, you can consider:


Adaaran Prestige Vadoo
Agoda sgd 2323 + 1866.4 (SIA, assuming you book very early)
= 4189 (boat included)
Water Bungalow Bed and Breakfast 2 Adults
4 nights, 1 room , 2 persons (excluding extra beds)

that's probably the best for 4k+ for 2 pax.

There are others within the 4k range for 4 nights, but plane transfer would add significant costs. So you're left with those near male

I was thinking if take air transfer.. would it be better than just taking the flight excursion?

Went on a safari dive trip (stay onboard type) many years ago, beside checking-in diving gears and hand carry some light clothings, we checked-in cartons and cartons of mineral waters. That time was USD4 per bottle.

i would like to go to maldives for honeymoon on 1 july 2013. Will it be worth to take the risk? I believe july is rainy season. I am willing to risk it if there is hope of sunshine. Hotels are quite cheap in july almost 50% off.

will 3 nights suffice for all activities ?

which hotel would you recommend on a personal basis?

when would be a good time to book flight and hotel tickets?
