Hi Folks,

Need some help on my Taipei trip planning mid May. I have 2 questions here:
1) What are the value for money hotels/minsu around Taipei Station/XMD area? I think I tried booking too late but I tried to book Swiio, CityInn, New Stay Inn, Happiness Inn, Y Hotel from 18-22 May but they are all not available. Is See You Hotel or Say Love Hotel any good? Requirement is a double bed (queen size or bigger)
2) Is there any takkyubin service in Taiwan like in Japan? I will like to send most of my luggage from my first hotel to my last hotel so I don't have to lug so many things around.

Also, I will appreciate any inputs to my planned itinerary. Was thinking of Jiufeng for my next trip as it seems too rushed already.

15 May - Arrival, Head to Tai Chung. Check in CityInn and explore Banana New Paradise / Yizhong NM, FJNM. Question: Is Carton King nearby?
16 May - Look for driver to go Strawberry Farm, Mushroom Farm, Lavendar Cottage before heading up to Cingjing (Dream Forest Villa) in late afternoon (what else you think can squeeze in?)
17 May - Explore GGGL, little garden and hikes around the various trails in the area
18 May - Hehuanshan sunrise, then back to Taichung and take HSR to Taipai. Visit east Taipi (Elite, Taipei 101, Wufenpu or Raohe NM)
19 May - Pingxi/Shifen epxloration
20 May - Danshui(Fisherman Wharf, Lovers Bridge, Fort San Domingo, Old Street)/Beitou(Hot Spring)/Shilin NM
21 May - Shopping (Taipei Underground Mall, Ximending) - Any other reco? No teenager-wear though
22 May - Checkout and back to Singapore

Also, any drivers to recommend for Taichung -> explore -> Cingjing?

Thanks!

Recommendation for driver in Taichung will be sgtaichung.
That is the driver I engaged with last time and he is good and friendly.

Taipei hotels those good hotels normally very fast sold out. Would be good if you book at least two months ahead. Prices can cost twice as much on weekend than one weekdays.

For example, booked my hotel @ XMD, ecfa hotel ...
Sun to Tue is 48 per night two ppl with breakfast with wifi ....
But their price sat to sun is 100+ , so booked kdm at 81 sgd per night with breakfast ....

Stayed before itrip Inn Business double room breakfast included - 90 per night
Go Sleep hankou standard double with breakfast - 75 per night
My upcoming end May taipei trip staying at YOMI, family room 130 per night for FOUR person with breakfast. Booked last month, now their family room sold out ... triple room itself one night is 140+

i booked ecfa last time also. its about 7- 10min walk from xmd train station, which imo its a bit far :p room was vv big. toilet big also. the rm quite old, but clean

2) Is there any takkyubin service in Taiwan like in Japan? I will like to send most of my luggage from my first hotel to my last hotel so I don't have to lug so many things around.
if im not wrong, i think Dont hv. was looking for too last yr when i went. but Taichung hsr has locker for baggage storage. in the end, i didnt use. just drag my trolley bag all the way. its actually manageable.

Also, I will appreciate any inputs to my planned itinerary. Was thinking of Jiufeng for my next trip as it seems too rushed already.

you can go Carton King on this day, it is next to small swiss gdn. can lunch at carton king restaurant then go GGGL. iirc, GGGL has some sheep shearing show, but only certain days (weekends?) n specific times. u may wna check it out. otherwise nt much to do.

18 May - Hehuanshan sunrise (dont hold high hopes for sunset, i woke up at 4am, in the end didnt see any beautiful sunrise. rly depends on ur luck) , then back to Taichung and take HSR to Taipai. Visit east Taipi (Elite, Taipei 101, Wufenpu or Raohe NM)
if u love shppg, suggest u devote at least 5 hours at Wufenpu. its huge, many things to sort thru

19 May - Pingxi/Shifen epxloration. can go to keelung night mkt

20 May - Danshui(Fisherman Wharf, Lovers Bridge, Fort San Domingo, Old Street)/Beitou(Hot Spring)/Shilin NM u sure the weather not too hot for hot spring? imo, hot spring only gd for autumn/winter

21 May - Shopping (Taipei Underground Mall, Ximending) - Any other reco? No teenager-wear though. try Dong Qu (zhong xiao dong lu) if ur into high end street wear

22 May - Checkout and back to Singapore

Also, any drivers to recommend for Taichung -> explore -> Cingjing? how many of u total? driver only worth if hv 4 pax. my friend and i took bus/taxi/hsr/subway everywhere!

Thanks!

some comments in orange :) i went almost the same places last May, less the taipei attractions as i had done those a few yrs ago :D

sounds like this is ur first time to tw? if not, can skip 101, eslite, fishermans wharf

looks like no time for jiufen, unless u want to devote 20 May to it.

Plan to go end of May 14, but still seaching hotel near MTR station which is most important and easy with kids/elderly. Anyone can recommend some 3 Star above so I can sleep well. :s13:

Near to night market will be best...
