Help with troubleshooting

Computer Hangs while Gaming

Hi guys,

Would like to seek the views of the various experts in this forum on troubleshooting my computer.

My new computer was purchased at the start of the year (system specifications as per my profile). However, my computer jams itself whenever I run games that has remotely some form of graphics intensity. Otherwise, it works fine.

Here are some examples of the problem that surfaced:

• Computer runs fine when playing football manager/applications
• Computer sometimes hang when playing games involving graphics (dead island, starcraft II)- screen goes black and speaker gives out bbbbbbrrrr sounds
• Computer sometimes hang (dead island, starcraft II)- screen goes black and gfx's fan goes into hyperdrive

To troubleshoot this problem:

• The games were installed on both the Western Digital Harddisk and the SSD but the problem persists.
• Cleaned the computer to get rid of dust, especially at the filter facing the PSU exhaust.
• Computer completed a FurMark benchmark test without hanging
• Computer temperature level did not hit critical levels when it hanged (graphics card hovered around 70-80 degrees).

I am hoping to identify the problem at home rather than bringing the computer down to Sim Lim Square as it is super bulky and last time round, I forked out $40 bucks for a shop to basically blow dust off my ram slot for my other computer.

Hence, I would like to seek everyone's advice on what additional troubleshooting steps I can undertake to identify the problem with my computer.
